Avoid bargain Vitamins! I'd go for Centrum multivitamins - they are pretty popular amongst health fanatics.

Why should acne-prone people be careful in selecting vitamins?

I always thought that vitamins were HELPFUL in clearing skin conditions??

I found this topic by plugging a forum search for vitamins because I wanted to read up on any benefits of specific vitamins such as C, E, etc...

Should I be weary of taking vitamin pills now, could they actually produce reverse effects and make my skin worse?

I thought diet was related in a big way, and that drinking lots of water and eating lots of fresh fruits and vegetables were helpful because of the vitamins that feed your skin cells.

Is this false?

I've started a diet of eating only healthy vegetables and fruits and when I eat at a restaurant, it's almost only Japanese food from now on... sushi, seaweed salads, avocado, etc.

Have I been misinformed?

so that multi-vitamin is the best one for acne? ya'll think that if i were to get this multivitamiin that i should also get an extra vitamin b pill considering that the dosage for acne sufferers on vitamin b is 100mg 3x daily with the exception of b3 which is 200 mg 3x daily

Well I'm not saying its the best but its a lot of ingredients that help with acne all rolled into one along with health/digestion. The way I'm doing it now is buying A, C, E, Zinc, B, separately is because they contain more amount per serving than what you would see in a multivitamin. Plus I'm taking them in larger amounts for the acne. Once I see my skin condition get better, which it has been, I will take smaller doses from a single multivitamin to maintain the benefits of clear skin/good health and more money in my wallet.

Here is what I did:

I became a GNC gold card member. 15 dollars for a year. I get vitamins all the time from there so 15 dollars isn't bad. Basically I got 20% off purchases on Vitamins (only happens during the 1-7 of every month when you get 20% off). There are also buy 1 get the other for half price. So along with that plus 20% off I bought Vit A, B Complex, B5, C, Zinc, Garlic Tablets, E for around 25 dollars. October is coming up so I plan to get more stuff like Acidophilus (aka GOOD bacteria). Small price to pay for Overall Health and Complexion. Hope that helps.

Large Doses of B5 helps with acne. Well it works on some and some not. You can find more info on B5 on the threads around here. Thing for me is that I got tired of taking 1-2grams a day (18-20 pills a day) so I gave it up. I feel that it helps. Some side effects could be sensitive teeth, diarrea. It depends on the person. Anyways.. I hope that helps. Take care.
