Why is it so hard to treat scars?

Recommended Posts

If you have a scar...then remove the scar...there should be produced new collagen, and the hole would be filled up ---> no scar anymore!

Why is it we can't do that? Is it because the body can't fill out such holes or what?

Please explain why...thanks in advance!

If you just cut the scar tissue out, the resulting wound will just refill with, you guessed it, MORE scar tissue. Most of the available treatments are trying to stimulate new collagen production under the scar to raise it up until it's flush with the surrounding skin.

I understand where he's coming from though. looking at it from a lay persons point of view, when you see the things they are doing these days with reconstructive surgury and the like, it can seem very frustrating that a few holes on the face are so impossible or hard to correct.
