Went to a new derm

Recommended Posts

HI All,

I've been on Diane 35 for 6 months now and my acne is much better BUT I'm still breaking out. So I decided to go to The Radiant Skin Care Clinc. It's located at 333 Wilson Ave and the Dr's name is Dr. Herman. There is 2 parts to the visit, u first visit an esthetian(I know that not how u spell it) and she talks to u about ur skin. She looked at me today and she was like, sweety no offense but u don't have a problem, u have a few pimples but we can fix it. I was like smile.gif REALLY!! We went through my daily routines and she suggested fixing a few things. Then I went to visit Dr. Herman. Right off the bat, we talked about how my acne began flaring up just recently. He was so nice, he said that I didn't have a problem just a minor glinch and he would help me fix things. He said that the pill I've been on will never give me clear skin, so he prescribed Bactim regular. Has anyone ever used it? Do u breakout before u get better? He said I won't break out more, just my usual amount. But honestly, I've been to a few derms, just read any of my previous posts and I've left them all. The people in this clinc are so nice and he really seemed to care. He even gave me a few free samples of creams. WHO DOES THAT? I'll let u know how it goes in the weeks to come but if anyone has also visited his office please share. Also anyone who can answer the above questions about Bactim please post or email me

Thanks in advance!!!

Hi all, The prescription I'm using is called "apo-sulfatrim" I take 2 pills a day and so far he prescribed me 30 pills. Has anyone ever heard of this drug? It's used to fight infections, like inner ear, or urinary. So far no reactions, pimples are the same.

I've been on the combination of diane 35 and apo sulfatrim. I use differin gel and benzamycn as well. Over all, I have not experience any extreme breakouts as I did when I started the bp 6 months ago. I still have pimples, but I'm more comfortable with my skin. Although, I still need to work on the picking. I can't help the squeezing or touching. Then I wonder why I scab. DUH!!!! Oh, I'm also using a cleanser and toner that was recommended from the radiant skin clinc and thankfully it hasn't broken me out. My next appointment to this clinc is next week, so I will keep u posted. gOoD lUcK!!!!

I went to my second appointment on Thurs and I'm still very happy about my choice. The dr is so nice and he actually sits and listens to u. He said my face looked a lot better then the first visit. He prescribed the pills apo-sulfatrim. I've been on them for 3 weeks now and let me tell u I don't have any new zits. I do still have a few scars from previous acne but no new zits. He says I should only be on this medication for 2-4 months, so only time will tell. He even did a dry ice treatment on me, he says it shrinks and closes pores. So really if u r looking for a new derm. Try Dr. Herman. Good luck all

I broke out a little bit last week, but the dr says it's my body adjusting to the pill. He thinks I should be on it for 2-4 months and he wants me off of Diane 35 which I'm really scared to do b.c I heard the breakouts are even worse then before. So I'm still debating whether to stay on or not. But I still really love this dr and recommend him to anyone

Still going and I'm still extremely HAPPY with the derm, Dr. Herman. He listens and he cares and he is always so positive. I've seen great improvements in my skin. I recommend him to anyone!!

Did you need your doctor to refer you to him?

Because my doctor refuses to refer me to a dermatologist; just like she won't refer my brother to a specialist for his lower back pain. She's horrific - but good luck finding a new doctor these days =\

Wow, I'm going to the same Derm. Clinic!!! I agree with you, the ppl at this clinic are AWSOME, Dr. Herman is the BEST!!! I've bin going to him for about a year now. I have definitely had a positive change in my skin. There have bin up's and downs to be honest, as the Dr. and I try to figure out what helps me best. I am currently using their Gentle Cleanser, Differin Cream in the morning, and metro lotion at night. Along with this he has put me on Apo-sulfatrim (the Bactim you mentioned). The great thing is it completely clears my skin as long as I take it, but I recently went off the pill (since it's not safe as a long term solution) doing this made my skin go back to the way it was, maybe not as bad, but still uncomfortable. I'm at the point now where I'd rather take the damn pill than care about my health, cuz it was so great to have clear skin

really.................I've been on the apo-sulfatrim for about 2 months now. He wants to keep me on for another 2. He told me I should be totally clear once I get off. I don't want to break out again. I don't care about the occassional zit or 2 but not how it used to be. How long did u take those pills? and how long before u started breaking out once u stopped?

think i did about six month then tried going off...but within a week the acne came back...the same thing happened this time. I'm at my wits end. I did some research on Apo. Long term use could be dangerous to over all health. Personally I've notice odd things going on with my body, yet I can't pin point the cause, although the drug has bin the only real change i've made in my life...ssooooo. I also can't say that the same will happen for you, because everyone is different. All the best to you, hope you find something that works!

Hi

I talked to the dr and he said that he wants to keep me on for 6 months. He says that the acne will come back but not as bad. Really if that's the case as long as it's not how it used to be then I don't mind. Ya clear skin is always amazing but highly unlikely I guess. I'm still doing the combo Diane 35 and apo. No side effects at all. If u don't mind me asking what else are u doing to help combat this annoying problem

Hi everyone,

So i was actually suffering the net to try to find other people that had the experience of knowing this doctor, and after searching a bit , i found this website. Well i just want to share my happy story. I got rid of my acne with that Dr Herman and he proscribed me those pills, apo-sulfatrim, its amazing i couldn't believe how quick it worked. I had really bad cystic acne especially in those days my face just look bad it was all over my chin. But honestly after a week of taking the bills my cystic acne started going away, i had no more pain, but the best part was that after 15 days it was completely gone.....Now my pimples are gone and my face is clear i am using aloe vera the actual plant i peel it and put the gel on my face it cures any scaring you have. I just feel so blessed that my acne is gone and i wanted to share with others.....oh i also use Egyptian magic i am not going to give credit to them though because Dr. Herman cured my pimples not Egyptian magic, egyptian magic just makes it smother.

you guys are blessed for those who found this site....

I am thinking about changing my derm as well. It feels like my regular one got tierd of me ever since I took accutane for like 4 years ago and have been totally clear since then. What do you think I should do.
