I know how hard it can be having acne and scarring....

And being in an education system at the same time makes it worse....

But if you ever have any math problems, whether it may or may not be related to your acne, please ask me for help. eusa_dance.gif

I wish I could help anyone having psychological problems due to acne.

It's easy...

For a quadratic equation ax^2 + bx + c = 0 (^2 = to the power 2 or squared), you plug in the values to:

x = -b + OR - the square root of b^2 - 4ac all over 2a...

+ OR - because there are 2 solutions to every quadratic equations..... or conjugate imaginary solutions.... or equal solutions if b^2 - 4ac = 0

An example....

Solve x^2 + 4x = -9

First make it the form ax^2 + bx + c = 0

x^2 + 4x + 9 = 0

a = 1, b = 4, c = 9, solve...

x = -4 + or - square root of (16 - 36) all over 2

x = -4 + or - square root of (-20) all over 2

Now, we have the root of -20, since it's minus we'll take out i or j (depending on your math course; if you're in a non-engineering discipline you'd use i instead of j)

x = -4 + or - i sqrt(20) all over 2 (sqrt short for square root of

Simplify the root....

x = -4 + or - 2i sqrt(5) all over 2

Simplify the fraction...

x = -2 + or - i sqrt(5)

So now we have....

x = -2 + i sqrt(5)

x = -2 - i sqrt(5)

(Where i means i multiplied by square root of 5...)

Why did we bring out the i? Because you can't have a negative square root, and i is the imaginary number standing for the square root of -1.....

I don't want to get into complex numbers right now, so blahblah.
