because of my fat ass gaining like 30 lbs over the last year, i've decided to start running everyday...

does anyone here have any suggestions on how to avoid breaking out after running/sweating? i'm really worried because recently i finally found a regimen that is keeping my skin clear. thanks!

sweating would be good as your releasing it through the pores of your skin and it is cleansing them and impurites get flushed out but onto the surface so its a good idea to cleanse after you have run and through out your run splash water on your face and pat it dry to keep the sweat down.

I have browsed on the web about this alot too.

I'm racing bicycle, which means on hot days I will be sweating constantly for normally 2 hours. This is a very confusing matter, on some sites I've read that sweating is only good, increases blood circulation and so on, but on other sites I've read that sweating can irritate and increase the inflammation proces.

In the moment, my mother has contact with a specialist, so I guess I'll have an expert opinion on the matter soon.

But for you egoprofit, I don't think running is gonna make you break out. You're running for what, 20-30 mins? If you just make sure so wash your face QUICKLY. If the sweat dries on your face, I think it will be bad for the skin.

But also, as I try to convince myself, you shouldn't stop running even though it is worsening your skin a little. Having a hobbie like that is wonderful, and if you have a weight problem - even better. Excersise is healthy, so don't let the acne ruin everything.

Yeah I have this problem too. I started doing Taebo 5-6 days a week which causes me to sweat heavily. I use a towel to wipe my face when the sweating gets really intense. I don't know if it works too well though b/c I seem to not be able to get rid of little bumps near the sides of my hairline which is where the sweat drips alot. I bet if I stopped working out for a week or so the bumps would go away. I don't want to stop though b/c I love doing Taebo and I know it's good for my body and soul...what to do..what to do eusa_think.gif

Definately cleanse after you run. I myself would do a mild scrub to exfoliate any buildup, then a little moisturizer and of course drink alot of water. Water helps to purify the body and moisturize the skin.

I've also been doing tae bo almost daily just since 2 weeks ago. Gosh, after the 1 hour workout, there's pretty much a puddle on my floor. I find that extreme amount of sweat seems to clear up my red marks. I still havn't broken out so I think exercise is only beneficial to the skin as long as you take a shower after.

im really glad this has been brought up as its something i have been worrying about since my skin has cleared through roaccutane, but im since then deciding to join a gym and work out to lose some weight- have put on some recently.

i think i will just do it and wash my face after and see.

I run regularly, don't notice much change on my acne between when I run and when I don't.

When I am sweating a lot, I just let it drip off for the most part, wipe as little as possible.

I read somewhere that sweat can aggravate acne for about 15% of people. I must be one of these. I have NEVER noticed that my skin gets better after a workout where I have been sweating heavily.

Mattias, I think I might try wiping my face with some kind of facial cleasing cloth a couple times throughout the workout. Anybody got ideas as to what would be a good cleanser cloth to wipe with??

i find the less i do the better,so i think i will just wipe my face with some tissue if the sweating gets heavy, and just with water after, then my normal cleanser at night.

the gym i use has a tissue machine so i will use fresh clean tissue and just pat every time.

Sweating cleans out your pores.

While working out is an important part of a healthy lifestyle, it can cause flare-ups for some people. Vigorous exercise stimulates oil production, which combines with heat, perspiration and friction to aggravate acne on the forehead, chest and back. You can minimize irritation by wearing loose cotton clothing and by showering immediately after exercising. Swimming is probably the best form of exercise for acne sufferers; in water, perspiration, heat and friction are largely out of the picture. Just make sure you don’t sit around in a wet swimsuit, as this can cause breakouts on your behind.

Yeah, when I play hockey and my face just sweats horribly + face mask rubbing.. when I rub sweat off with my fingers I notice irritation later on and sometimes a breakout or something.
