SOme questions abou peels, salycilic in this case

Well today is my 3rd day after a 20% salycilic peel and my skin is still beown and tight, i have been applying aquaphor on it everyday. I was wondering when does one actually start to peel or the skin turbn back into it's normal state?

Should i keep applying the aquaphor?

Where did you purchase this peel? I've done a 20% salicylic and my skin has never turned brown. Yes, apply the aquaphor, but please let me know where you bought this peel from.

I putchased it from http://www.naturalskinshop.com

The area i treated is till borwnish and hasn't peeled at all, it's only been 3 days but i'm hoping in two more days it will start to look better.

My skin did frist white when i fist applyed it, that was really scary, i hope i didn't burn my skn too much, i just left it for 2 minutes and washed it off.

your skin must be really sensitive! i use that peel all the time and my skin has never turned brown. Maybe you should start off with a lower percentage salicylic peel and then work your way up?

I used to do 50% salicylic acid peel weekly, but they never really made me peel at all.

Amnesiac are you not going for a dermabrasion now?

Holy crap! Are you sure you only left it on for 2 minutes? I use that very same peel....that very same strength from that very same company.....and I have sensitive skin and my skin has NEVER turned brown from it.

I'd say yes, keep the skin moist with the aquaphor. Also, maybe you could PM Robert? He's used that peel a lot and maybe he could give you some tips. Also, call their number. Maybe they can tell you if that reaction is normal.

yeah i've never burned so bad form a peel and yes i only did like 2 minutes and washed it off.

Hey misshady, well i have the money and time for dermabrasion but i think i would have too many complications, starting with my skin type and color.

I know i am bound to encounter some issues since my skin color is really middle of the road and i mark easily from acne.

I think i'll call dr.y and ask him if i could get some floats and insicions for my scars and see how they turn out in the end, maybe they won't need dermabrasion but i think dermabrasion is too risky for me in my case.

amnesiac, do you happen to be allergic to aspirin? aspirin is a derivative of salicylic acid, so you may be reacting to that?

no, i am not allergic to aspirin, i am unsure what's going on, the skin is still brown but lighter and real tight and weinkly when i frown or soemthing, i'll give it 2 more days and then i'll see if i need to go to a dermatologist.

Should i still keep applying aquaphor?

thnks for the replies guys, well today after a shower i noticed it was peeling and thing was is that the dead skin was already off but since i've been moisturizing with aquaphor everyday it was still stuck on, today it started to flake off and seems to be one big piece of dead flesh, eww hehehe

robert how often have you done this peel?

like how much time in between??

I am wondering if the same logic to TCA cross could work with lighter peels such as salycilic acid, if you apply ointment afterwards it should help for better results.

Hi, everyone! I have a question about doing at home peels: How do you protect your skin from the sun after the peel? Do you apply sunscreen under the aquaphor, or do you just have to avoid the sun completely for a few days? Thanks.
