NLP and Communication

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am interested in learning about NLP, more specifically how to use it to effectively communicate....(also interested in the link between NLP and hypnosis).

Can anyone recommend good books in this area?? Or any websites that you found useful?

thanks for any suggestions.

I don't know if this is what you want, but there is an interesting book called Skin Deep: A Mind/Body Program for Healthy Skin by Ted A. Grossbart and Carl Sherman. It is about skin disorders and how your mind can be a hinderance to clearing up skin disorders. It is a lot about digging through your emotional problems and resolving them in order to let your skin be "free". There are some relaxation techniques and a few, brief exercises on hypnosis. But if you want a book completely devoted to hypnosis, this isn't for you.

Can't say any SPECIFIC books, coz there's so many good ones... all about NLP, influence, hypnosis, etc. But go for books by the authors...

1. Cialdini.

2. Richard Bandler.

3. Joseph O'Conner.

4. John Seymour.

Aint read any by other people sincei aint had much readin time spare, until now... sine i just lost one of my jobs yesterday, lol. Life of poverty & leisure, here i come! :D/

thanks guys. I'm not really searching in the direction of skin related books, but thanks for the suggestion.

More along the lines of Power of suggestion and also "reading people".

...originally posted this in the lounge, don't know why it turned into an international issue.

Well, start off with a basics or introduction book like 'Introducing NLP' by John Seymour and Joseph O' Conner. That'll teach u the meanings of commonly used techiniques, acronyms, methods, models, etc. :D/

Then go for some more advanced stuff, like that of Cialdini. Try other authors too tho, i aint tried many myself... takes a while to get thru a book, plus i sumtimes re-read them, lol. #-o

Thanks Gaz.

I bought a simple one by O'Connor today, read a little and it looks very interesting and easy to understand.

Kewl. :D

I just ordered ''Influence'' by Robert Cialdini, since i've herd it's menna be one of his best, or maybe THE best he's written. =P~

But i wouldnt recommend anythin but the ''simple stuff'' if your only startin out, it can take some work an dedication to actually grasp how it all works. I've never found anythin as hard as this... apart from eating melon out of a bucket, but that's another thing altogether... :D&

I've been pondering around NLP an the related bits of psychology for about a year an a half now, but only decided to actually get books an teach myself somethin properly about 6 months ago. I'm graspin it well, but it sure does take some time. =;

Have fun. O:)
