Crusader 0 Share Posted June 11, 2005 I listen to mostly power/progressive metal...But, you HAVE to check this band out, well it is more like a project than a band... it is a metal/rock opera... it has 10 singers and various musicians.Make sure you read the lyrics too.Ayreon - The Human Equation

Revolution 0 Share Posted June 12, 2005 A really good song is Angeles by Elliot Smith. If you have not heard it before I highly recommend you listen to it, it's a beautiful melodic and soft mainly one instrument song (guitar) with mellow vocals and some synth in the background. QuestionMark 1 Share Posted June 13, 2005 This is all pretty decent stuff so far, but there is a serious lack of hardcore at the moment. What about music when you're angry and you need to thrash? This might be too hard for some people, but if you can handle it, it'll rock your socks off.I'll just list bands first, and then maybe a song if they have a certain really good one.Atreyu - This Flesh Is A TombBleeding Through - Love Lost In A Hail Of Gun FireThe CurseKillswitch EngageRammstein - that one from ffxDeath From Above 1979MovelifeSenses Fail- Rum Is For Drinking, Not For BurningTsunami Bomb - Say What You MeanIt Dies Today - A Threnody For Modern RomanceRoses are Red - White and GoldTerror- Overcome (a happy hardcore song. weird, eh?)Eighteen Vision - I Let GoPoison The WellSocial CodeMidtownHome GrownAnd, for the finale, the best band I have ever heard: Open Hand. These guys are insane-o good. Download any song of theirs. (maybe start with In Your Eyes, Tough Girl, Tough Guy, Take No Action and Pure Concentrated Evil) Buy the albums. God they are so good. jjp007 4 Share Posted June 13, 2005 I'm a huge Duran Duran junkie and all their music new (their new CD Astronaut is really fab!!!) and old totally inspires me and is great therapy when I need a pick me up. I also love Seal, New Order, Robert Palmer, The Power Station. John Taylor of DD has a lot of solo work that is really raw and powerful stuff that I totally lose myself in when I need to feel inspired! His motto and now mine is Trust the Process and Crisis = Opportunity! MUSIC IS GREAT THERAPY!!
BennyPenny 0 Share Posted June 13, 2005 Hey...favorite bands/cds that helped me cope with acne throughout the years...in no particular order of preference.1. Tool - Lateralus2. Opeth - Deliverance/Damnation3. Queens of the stone age - Songs for the deaf/Lullabies to Paralyze4. John Mayer - Room for squares5. Metallica - ...And Justice for all6. Joe Satriani - Strange Beautiful Music7. Matthew Good Band - Underdogs8. Pink Floyd - The Wall/Wish you were here9. Silverchair - Diorama10. Kyuss - Best of KyussI would strongly recommend either of these albums/musicians...all are VERY good at what they do and have given me much insight on new ideas to try in my musical endeavors. Most artists today just copy old ideas that have been done before - the above music will mostly likely reach you one way or another if you like a change from all that mainstream shit and are open to something fresh and unpredictable.Benny

Guest Zitro Share Posted June 13, 2005 Dream theater's new album is pretty good.BennyPenny : good taste of music in your list, Lateralus is a really progressive piece of music, I've never heard anything quite like it (althrough I hear a lot of "king crimson' influences).Althrough I disagree to your metallica album, I find that album weak compared to black album and the previous 2.
