Hypertrophic scars and invasive procedures

Recommended Posts

Hi, i have discovered recently that i have a little hypertrophic scar that i had never seen before because i was more aware of my indented scars. I will be going through Exoderm soon and i am worried because i have read in some of the posts here that invasive procedures can make them bigger after making them smaller, have you experienced similar thing after going through a dermoabrasion? Is it so difficult to get rid of hypertrophic scars?

Thank you

Tom Tom - hypertrophic scarring is different to keloid scarring. Keloids tend to continue growing after the scar has healed, and can be more problematic to treat.

Amigababy - I think Exoderm might be likely to help with this hypertrophic scar, although it would be best to check with the dermatologist. I've found pressure therapy has worked quite well on my hypertrophic scarring, although it does require a lot of patience having to apply the pads continually for a couple of months.
