Do you pop pimples or leave it?

Recommended Posts

This has been confusing to me for awhile, many people say no never pop a zit but I found that they pop no matter what you do. When they come to a white head, they will pop byitself (especially after a shower) and when they do you'll have a big scab on you're face due to the puss drying on you're skin. Acording to specialist, this will cause scarring, if so how do you prevent it from scabbing? unless you follow Dan's method of popping a zit to reduce the puss which i found is the best way to go because if you let it pop by itself, the bacteria might spread to other areas.

I think popping is really necessary sometimes. I mean if you have an infection anywhere else on your body, it's normal to try to remove it right? If you leave it alone to pop by itself, it can begin to enlarge and look really gross. I believe that the popping time is crucial. Never too early. Always wait for it to come to a head. Just my thoughts. ~Ade

Popping always made my acne worse, you would usually f*ck up with the popping and bacteria would cause more sports to appear when you tried to remove a single one! is that a shit deal or what?

DONT DONT DONT POP!

ESPECIALLY if u scar easily

just put ur face over steaming hot water for 5 to 10 min and wash ur face

it should be gone if the pimple already came to a head

I've popped thousands of pimples. Haven't gotten any permanent scars. I guess it depends on the individual. I find that if I don't pop them, they usually last longer. Sometimes a lot longer.

I used to pop. I never scarred from it. I'd only pop if it comes to a head, never try to pop a nodule or cyst! I find the healing process to be a little quicker if I pop the zits when they come to a head, rather than let it die on its own.

i pop but my skin is shit because if i pop a TINY spot then the whole area around it becomes inflamed and sometimes becomes scabby and sore.

If u can cope with not popping then i would say dont but i personally cant help it. Sometimes popping makes them last longer, other times it gets rid of them straight away!

Leave them. I never pop. You're just going to end up with scars if youre poping left, right and centre.

i always pop my pimples, sometimes even before they come to head. sometimes, i do pop them a little tooooo early though & it becomes really red & inflamed & scabby, etc. esp the ones on my chin! but like the other guy said, sometimes it gets rid of them really fast, sometimes it stays longer (generally, if i pop too early).

When you're popping zits, sure, you're realeasing some bacteria. There's a catch, though: You're also releasing the white blood cells that fight the infection. It's not a win-win situation. I'm not a dermatalogist - so don't take me too seriously. But keep in mind that popping has its consequences and may prolong an infection.

I used to pop mine all the time. I've stopped popping 100% though, mainly because there's nothing "ready to pop" so to speak due to the BP gel I've been using. eusa_dance.gif

Yea but when you do that you still have the white part of the head attached to your skin. I pluck it with the pin but i also snag the lil head off with the pin too. Leaves it pretty raw..

I saw some doctor on Oprah say that popping is OK if you do it with a sterilized needle. Usually I don't trust docs but this one made sense.

He said to take a small sewing needle and run a flame from a lighter over the tip to sterilize it, then to lightly nick the center of the pimple and gently squeeze the pus out.

I think mine have been healing faster with this method, with less red marks afterward (i always get red marks/scars, whether I have popped or not).

I think putting peroxide on the spot after it has been sqeezed is the best to speed healing.

I pop somethings, trying to stop. It becomes habit.

Trust me, unless it's a huge pus spot on your face, DONT TOUCH.

I have MILD teenaged acne which is pretty average but whenever I screw around with it, it gets bad. My advice to anybody is to keep your hands off, get some good cream/cover and then dont look in the mirror.

a year or so ago when I wasn't self-conscious about my acne, I have to admit that I loved popping big zits, black heads, etc... I honestly think that I had OCD or acne dysmorphia or something. I think that acne would kind of be a fun disease if there were no cysts and once you popped something the skin would go back to looking normal with no red marks.

i prick mine till it bleeds and do all the bacterial regimen stuff and leave it alone while it dries for 3 days and u'll prolly see an extra dead layer of skin..use a tweezer or something to grab hold of it and pull softly..hopefully the whole thing will remove itself too. But if not then just squeeze it out..theres nothing to worry since the puse is dry already and you'll see this hard yellow thing coming out of your pore..and do all those disinfecting thing! It worked for me.

well..Byee!

i haven't popped a pimple in months, i just try to leave my oily fingers off my face. popping a pimple just worsens that part of your face or something.

"pop" is the wrong word. you should release pressure on a spot but getting rid of white stuff if its at a head. STOP right away. the yellow gunk is not all bad and you will be squeezing good bacteria thats fighting the acneas well. Just remove whitenes with a needle or whatever, and cover it over with something anti-bacterial. i use bp. thats the best. never apply too much pressure. do not make it red.
