Good supplements/foods to help with Accutane

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm a 35-year old male with a loooong history of acne and have tried pretty much every conventional (retinoids, BP, SA, topical AND oral antibiotics) and complementary (acupuncture, milk thistle + other herbs, tea tree oil, homeopathy, diet etc.) approach to tackling my very persistent acne, and none has worked other a long period, so have finally been prescribed Roaccutane, which I'm hoping will finally sort me out.

Anyway I was wondering what supplements and/or diet might help alleviate some of the side-effects of accutane (e.g. dry skin & lips, overworked liver, depression) without interacting in a bad way with accutane. I know Vitamin A supplements are a no no, but have heard Vitamin E can help with some of the side effects, though am not sure at what dosage - 400iu/day? I was thinking of maybe taking Milk Thistle & Dandelion tincture to help support my liver, I've also been taking 2g of Flaxseed Oil a day (mostly for the Omega 3, which is meant to help both acne and depression). What do people think of these supplements with accutane and are there any others might help? What about diet? I'm about 95% vegan, occasionally eat organic eggs and organic sheep/goat cheese (I'm intolerant to cow milk). Thanks
