Darklord 0 Share Posted May 24, 2005 Hey,I opened the paper today and right there on a page of its own was a new acne gel that has only just been released, it says that it is as powerful as antibiotics! It says that it treats the acnes underlining problem, which is sebum it narrows the openings of the glands - preventing it from escaping to the surface. So i would imagine that this would be good for ppl with oily skins too. Says that ppl's acne clears up super fast.It is a powerful anti imflamatory and its active ingredient is called 'nicotinamide' a tried and trusted source of vitamin B3.It has been tested on over 1000 ppl in America, UK and Canada and has proved very successful.U dont go to the doctor or derm to get it, it is now available in any leading chemist.Just thought that i would tell u guys. What do u think?Google it, and see what u find it is called 'Freederm'. I would google 'nicotinamide' aswell though.EDIT: O yeah, bacteria will not grow a resistance to this.Tom

goldengirl 0 Share Posted May 24, 2005 I wonder if it is similar to Nicomide T cream and gel sold in the states here.
Darklord 0 Author Share Posted May 24, 2005 Yeah, it sounds very simular, i googled it and it said that it has the B vitamn in it.Tom
gentlesoul 13 Share Posted May 24, 2005 Good, I located the right item. I googled to try and find the product in Canada, but couldn't, namely Globaldrugs.ca and Feelbest.com. I did a little calculation, and it seems it cost about $20 CDN before shipping. I also looked at the nicotinamide cream and gel, but it doesn't look like the same product at all. WindWaker: Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I'm going to continue to look into this.
Darklord 0 Author Share Posted May 24, 2005 Oops my mistake. No problem, i just switched on the TV and there was an advert for it, LOL.Tom
Keepitcoming 0 Share Posted May 24, 2005 well when theres mass advertising on a product its usually crap!!! But this stuff does look promising, the website www.freederm.co.uk looks quite nice and tells acne as it is, desciribng all the different spots and stuff, so they arent your average cash gobbling company. Ive ordered some off of pharmacy 2u and it should be here in a few days and ill tell you guys how it goes....... I have been using dermameds acne gel up until now and it does do good but it just takes some time, and im an impatient guy! lol. So yeah you guys might as well give this stuff a try, where did it say that bacteria wont get immune to it Windwaker?
Darklord 0 Author Share Posted May 24, 2005 Oh yeah i never looked at that, thx for pointing it out.Thats great ), keep us posted. It says something about the redness, does this mean that is good for red marks aswell .It said it in the paper that i was reading, it stated that it is unlike any other acne gels as it isnt a antibiotic, it stops the underlining problem. So bacteria carnt get a resistance to it.Keep us updated,Good luck,Tom ;-)

goldengirl 0 Share Posted May 25, 2005 Tom,The product does sound promising. I like the fact that it is able to penetrate into the oil glands. Now my next question. Do you know if this is available in the US or if it can be shipped here? I will start checking into it.Thanks again!
Darklord 0 Author Share Posted May 25, 2005 Hey,Yeah i like the sound of it too, at least its not an antibiotic for a change. On the freederm website, they said that it is available in Independent pharmacies nationwide. So just look in at your local pharmacy. I am going off to get this too. I just want it to prevent mostly as i am almost clear, it does say that it stoppes ones that u carnt see aswell as clearing active ones so.EDIT: Also, if u carnt find any where u live, http://www.pharmacy2u.co.uk do overseas shipping.Tom )

Ben100604 62 Share Posted May 25, 2005 A similar thing has been out in the UK for a couple of years, Its called Nicam Gel which is exactly the same as Freederm. I asked my GP who specialises in skin complaints if she'd ever prescribed Nicam Gel and how effective it was, she said that she had prescribed it for a few people and they hadnt seen many results. But you know, different people, different results. They're classed as P medicines which means you dont need a prescription but they will only be available behind the counter at chemists
davâ„® 5 Share Posted May 25, 2005 Hey TomAfter checking out the site I'm left with one question...Why use a treatment that is targeted at reducing the inflammation of an already plugged comedone when there are treatments out there which can prevent the comedone from forming in the first place?
UK_Guy 0 Share Posted May 25, 2005 I've tried Nicomide-T before, which is another nicotinamid topical, it did very little for my skin and I found it more irritating than Differin
Guest TylerD Share Posted May 25, 2005 So where would you get this stuff if your derm cant give it to you and its not in stores or anything atleast not here. Where would i buy this product?

grey_fox 0 Share Posted May 27, 2005 I've been using this for the past 4-5 weeks now, during the day and BP at night. Nicotinamide is an anti-inflamatory agent, which is RELATED to vitamin B3. It's primarily for use on 'angry' spots. It absorbs ultra-fast as its in a gel format. It also contains citric acid as well, although I don't know what strength. Keepitcoming 0 Share Posted May 29, 2005 So grey fox has it been helping you or do you not realy know as you have used in conjunction with bp. Whats your acne like now and what was it like before you were treating it? My order still hasn't come throuhg yet which means i will have to wait till tuesday before i get it due to a bank holiday on monday! BAH! I have good expectations of this because previous anti-imflam's have worked very well on me, the thought of it preventing those nasty red suckers fills me with joy! grey_fox 0 Share Posted May 30, 2005 Well I got this stuff pretty much before all the 'major' retailers got stocks of it. My dad's a pharmacist, and found out about freederm ages ago, and ordered some straight away. It arrived the same day that I found this website, and read about the regime. I initially started using just the freederm for a week, then the more I read about the success stories with BP I decided to try that, and gave up on the freederm for a few days, then decided to combine the 2 like I'm doing now. Before I started all this, my cheeks had a few spots, and redness, and my forehead was pretty bad. Now my cheeks have almost cleared up, I've got a big (cystic??) spot on my left cheek which is defo going down slowly, and my forehead is just in 'aftermath' stages, getting rid of the red marks and a few little spots. Overall I'd say the combination seems to work pretty well for me. I've tried everything over the last 9-10 years and I think I'm finally winning!!! When you're applying the freederm, don't put too much onto your finger at once, as it dries very quickly and absorbs ultra-fast. A little seems to go a long way. As an added bonus, I've found that the freederm seems to help get rid of flakies as well, so it kinda counters the over-drying and redness effects of the BP.
Guest TylerD Share Posted May 31, 2005 Well i asked my doc about it and he had no idea what the hell it is lol so i dont know if i can even get it but i feel i need something i quit bp and now am just using the toner and cleanser and although i am clear at the moment i think im going to breakout soon or later so i was wanting too look into this shitty. Keepitcoming 0 Share Posted May 31, 2005 Thats good news about the flakiness grey fox! Myne still hasnt turned up, goddam bank holidays and such! tyler D are you in the UK? If so you need to get this from a pharmacy but if your in the USA then you cant get this exact brand, there are other brands offering the same thing though a few of them were posted i think. Good luck.
