When I wash my face, it doesn't seem dry. But after a while my face turns into an oil slick.

Would moisturizing after a shower let my body know that it doesn't need to produce oil for my face?

Can I ask what you wash your face with, and do you use hot water?

Though it doesn't necessarily feel dry, it may be affecting your skin's balance and encouraging it to produce more oil.

As far as moisturizer, I feel it depends on the one. I would maybe suggest something with oat. It seems to absorb oil while soothing and smoothing the skin, but I also understand mekinguwho's advice.

The only way to know would be to try it for a few days.

Good luck!
