I'm in the process of searching for a new shave gel and this is one of the X-Factor ingredients. Some have it, some don't.

Does this ingredient help/hurt shaving?

I've never seen it used in a shave gel.  Triclosan is used mostly in hand soap and in a few face cleansers.  It's an antibacterial agent, I can't imagine it'll be harmful when you shave.  It might even be helpful for those little nicks and cuts.
