Are all types of Vitamin E the same?

Recommended Posts

There are two main types of vitamin E-- synthetic (dl-tocopherol) and naturally-sourced (d-tocopherol). Beyond that, there's different vitamers of E such as alpha, beta, delta and gamma tocopherol, as well as another type of vitamer called a tocotrienol. A vitamin E complex that has all of these can be expensive, so usually it's best just to go with natural vitamin E, d-tocopherol, with other mixed tocopherols (alpha, beta, delta and gamma) as supplementing with just one tocopherol inhibits absorption of the others.

If you ask at a health food store they'll know about all of this.
