Need advice on an acne SOC project!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

I know this is only like one of my first few posts on this forum but I’m a sociology major at the University of Washington and an on and off sufferer of acne ( evil.gif !).I’m also currently taking a sociology research methods class and one of the assignments is to conduct a survey and to do a final analysis write up on the results.

The project is still in the beginning of its brainstorming stages right now but I was kind of thinking about conducting a survey style research project on the social effect of having and suffering from acne. But the thing is I’m not the most computer intelligent person, so I was wondering if anyone could help me with figuring out how to make and host such a survey on the web.

Thanks in advance!

(Also if you have any kind of advice but don’t want to post please feel free to send an E-mail my way!)

Click on New Poll in the top right corner of this very thread and then design a poll with the questions you have in mind. The methodology, collation and analysis of data, of course, is entirely up to you.

I think basing an assignment on an online website won't get you good marks as it requires little effort and there are problems about people just skewing the results for the hel lof it and stuff

You might be better off carrying out a few interviews, or distributing a quantitative questionnaire?

Be sure to remember that voluntary surveys are harder to justify as an indicator of your target population because if people are indifferent they're not going to respond, so you'll get some skewed numbers. So you'll have to make the survey as easy to take as possible, so more people will take the time to fill it out - including the ones that don't feel strongly enough about the subject.
