In the past I have frequently used semi permanent hair dyes (I like to change my boring dark brown hair to almost black). However I developed a very nasty allergy to an ingredient called p-Phenylene diamine. The allergy means I can no longer use commonly available dye. From my research I can't find any hairdye products that don't contain p-Phenylene diamine. Basically I am not holding out much hope ...but has anyone had the same problem and been able to find a decent dye product without this nasty chem?

Thanks Tamara!!

I have seen the article link a while back and on the basis of it sought out some Herbatint - only to find that it had pPD in it. But bugger it - I'll give it a whirl and do a test patch on my arm first. Otherwise I'll give the henna a try. (although I am a little worried about going dark ash brown...not sure that will achieve the "raven haired beauty" thing I'm gunning for  )
