i need to know about the side effects of b5

Recommended Posts

and the science behind it. i can't really find much

i need to know if b5 (at 10mg, got it from acnemiracle) can have any impact on strength, endurance or training, as i'm a marine and i really can't take anything that will put me in risk of losing any physical ability.

i planned to take it with the b complex or whatever it is, but still, is there anything else that anybodys experienced as far as physicalness goes?

I personally have neer tried the b5 thing. But I just take a B complex-100 everyday. Like 100 mg of everything. So just buy a b complex which has a high mg of everything, cuz 10 mg of b5 won't do MUCH eventhough it's the RDA. Excess b vitamins are excreted through your urine so don't worry about an overdose unless your taking a LOT, by a lot I mean grams of b vitamins a day over a period of time. Your urine will usually always be yellow once you start taking a b complex, so no, it's not that you aren't having enough water. Hopes this helps

You're willing to take megadoses of a vitamin based on an old anonymous Internet site? Good thing everything on the Internet is truthful! You've got to be fucking joking. If I were to put up a site without any sources(like the link posted here has none), but lots of smart sounding psuedo-scienctific "facts" on the benefits of smoking crack for acne-how many of you would run to the local freindly neighborhood street pharmacist? Please use discretion and common sense before you may risk your health!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, that got pretty ugly! As for the first question, I've been on B5 for three months now, and am in the process of training for a marathon, and have noticed no difference in how tired I get or sore, or anything. Definitely take the B5 with food though, whenever I didn't I got a bit nauseus, which would probably effect your strength levels.

I'm on my third week of B5 megadosing. I started at 10g/day (from

powder). I went up to 20g/day. And now I'm back to 10g/day.

Here's what's happened so far:

1. Diarrhea! It was a lot worse at first, but it still hasn't gone away. At

first, I was lucky to pass anything that was solid. It caused my waste

to turn into a liquid. It also stung my rectum, as if it was an acid. I think

taking B5 megadoses like this causes bile secretion to go on overload.

So I think most of my waste was acid because it was mostly bile. I've

gathered from others who are on B5 that this eventually goes away

completely. But after almost 3 weeks, I'm still feeling it (but a lot less

than what I felt in the beginning). I feel bloated a lot, too. I think if there's

one reason why I give up taking B5, it will be because of this, because

it's just not healthy.

2. I felt pretty good during my first week. My strength was good. I woke

up feeling energetic. Now in my 3rd week, I feel drained, sort of like

the beginning of a flu (which it might turn out to be, who knows).

3. Athletically, I think I've noticed recovery times are slightly better now,

and my muscles seem to be doing well, if not better (gaining mass).

4. Now, as far as my acne, I saw a good improvement in the first week

of taking B5. However, after the first week, it was like that scene from

"Raiders of the Lost Ark" when all the spirit nymphs turned ugly and

evil looking. Just when I was getting happy with my progress, all

of the sudden my entire face started breaking out like it has never

broken out before. I got 4 cysts when I haven't gotten any cysts at

all in the past 3 years (ever since accutane). People who've done B5

say this is normal in the beginning. I dunno. I dropped back to 10g/day

because of this. It's pretty discouraging.

I must agree with his last statement, use discretion and common sense before you play around with your health, I have also found info that drinking your own morning urine is great for your skin but I'm not going to rush into that just yet? I used my own discretion and didn't get the roaccutaine prescription filled because I decided that if it cause birth defects it could just make me even for defective :)

Relax folks, enjoy life.

The diarrhea is caused by the B5. Taking diarrhea medications

or eating extra fiber in your diet will not help. Nothing will make it go away

except time. Your intestines aren't used to the B5 and will flood it with

bile to get rid of it. It does seem to be getting better, but it has been

a few weeks now since starting it. You'll begin to get diarrhea the

very same day you start.

So far I'm still getting cystic acne, and it appears to be caused by

the B5. Apparently I'm not through my initial break-out period

which most people say happens with B5. Just wish I knew when

or if it was gonna end. The oil on my face has reduced, though,

which makes it all the more strange that I should be getting worse

acne than before.

Well.. that sucks.. How long does this diarrhea period last?

Steve, How long have you been on B5?

and when did this inital breakout occur?

i'll try to start out on a low dose and see what happens.

The diarrhea seems to be getting better now. I'm getting more and

more "solid" now. Though if I take too much B5 at a time, it will

trigger it.

I've been on B5 for 3 weeks now. Diarrhea started the first or second

day. I started at 10 grams, though, which is a lot. You might start

at 1 gram and work up to 10 grams. Then when you've found you're

getting good results, you can start reducing it. Most people say

they're stable around 4-6 grams per day.

The initial break-out I saw came after my first week on B5. I noticed

an almost immediate reduction of oil after my first day on B5. And my acne

got better that whole first week. Then something bad happened, and

my skin got really bad in the second week, much worse than ever

without B5. I'm still going through it. I don't know if I'll continue taking

B5 now because of this. I've been taking cleocin-T gel (antibiotic)

to deal with it. I've also been using differin and benzoyl peroxide on

specific areas to help fight it. Oh, and I tried that trick "Vicks Vapor Rub"

on the cysts, and it seems to be helping them greatly.

The Vick's VapoRub is fairly new to me too. I saw it mentioned somewhere

else and decided to try it out. It seems to raise the cyst to the surface a

bit faster than just waiting around for it to happen (if ever). It seems to

decrease inflammation pretty well too.

Plus there is anecdotal evidence that eucalyptus oil can help acne.

Vick's VapoRub has that as one of its main ingredients. The other two

are menthol and camphor. All of it is in a vaseline base, so it's not a

good thing to smear all over your face. But for on-the-spot treatment

of nasty cysts, yeah, it might help.

I'm experimenting now by getting some pure eucalyptus and camphor

oil, combining them with tea tree oil and aloe vera gel to see if that doesn't

make a good anti-acne rub in general. I doubt it will work. I do know

eucalyptus oil gets rid of demodex mites (there is scientific evidence

to support that claim). And demodex mites have been linked to rosacea,

though not solidly linked to acne just yet from what I've seen. I wonder

if it will help acne. Hmmm. I'll post my results when I get them.
