my derm's smoothbeam laser broke sad.gif

so i am getting clearlight treatment but w/ a 1 hr long peel called "levulen" ... i did a search w/ that spelling and came up w/ nothing.

apparently it will leave me pink for a few days and very photosensitive, but the levulen helps the clearlight penetrate and therefore is good for both scars AND active acne.

anyone have ANY info on this??

Amino Levulinic Acid is the peel substance you're talking about, I believe. It was originally pioneered to treat sunspots... (pre-cancerous lesions, keratinic pilares, or Pilares Keratoses, or something along those lines). They put your face under a blue light, which supposedly activates the acid--which, in turn, massacres acne bacteria, but has a residual effect as well. Some Michigan Avenue derms here in Chicago have been pushing. I don't know exactly what it does for collagen scars though, sorry.
