I'm sorry. I know that this is not the place to do this, but I really have no friends to talk to right now. They are all out of town; and the closest thing to support I have right now is this site.

Miserable life.

I have cysts all over my face. Yes, I'm the guy with a golfball sticking out of his face. I'm afraid to even go outside right now. You try living with a golfball sticking out of your face; it's not pleasant. (C'mon 'tane, work already.)

I just got my ACT scores back and I made a really low score on Reading. Arg!!!

I made a 29 on Eng, 32 on Math, 21 (!!!) on Reading, and 33 on Science! I really want to kill myself right now. Somebody stop me...

I have a lot more bad things going on but these are the most dominant factors that are really bringing me down. I'm glad I have you guys. I wanna cry. cry.gif

Awww…honey, I know exactly where you are right now. I’ve had the same exact types of cysts all over my face. It looked as if I was having an allergic reaction or someone punched me in the face. I spent an entire weekend at home, avoiding mirrors and called into work the following Monday. Stressing and crying over the state of things probably didn’t help my skin much either.

Is this your initial breakout or just an extension of it?

Have you called your dermatologist to tell him what is happening to you?

I went through something like this for weeks on end and the only thing that saved me was shots of cortisone and a prescription to prednisone. Usually afterwards, the swelling would go down within two to three days. If you haven’t made the phone call yet, I would do it immediately. Even if you are unable to secure an appointment with that particular doctor, I’ve realized that having several dermatologists around for this type of emergency situation isn’t a bad idea. Most dermatologists in my area (New Jersey – woo-hoo!) are willing to see me when my regular doctors can’t.

I’m also sorry to hear that you are also going through additional stress at school. I know, when it rains, it pours. Be easy on yourself. You should be on a mini-vacation right now anyway, right?

I wish I could send you some steroids to bring down the swelling but the rules on this board prohibit it. The most I can say is that this will pass. Be patient. Also, please be loving to yourself in the meantime. If you need to cry, cry. If you need to scream, go for it. Get every negative emotion out of you and know that you are more than this disease. Inside of you shines a light (like all of us) that is more positive and more powerful than anything in your life. Hold on to that. It’s the most important part of you and it is what will help you through this.

And, yes, if at all possible, call your doctor.

Please do not do anything rash! Killing yourself is not the answer. Your skin WILL get better. Listen to Arpazia and get some prednisone and you can retake the test later. You have your whole life ahead of you. Instead of focusing on the bad aspects of the present, think about how great your future will be.

You know what? I got treatment and i'm looking pretty darn spiffy. There is hope. There is treatment. And, you have a freakin fabulous future ahead of you. smile.gif Seriously. Yes you do. Whenever you want to chats, you have thousands upon thousands of friends here who are going through the same thing you are. Ok? Now, I have one little request. Smile for us smile.gif

Thank you so much for your support! biggrin.gif (Smile!)

The bill came in yesterday. Guess how much my 1 st derm appointment cost! Five hundred dollars! It's crazy.

All I got done on my 1st was a consultation and a blood test, and they charged us 500 dollars! Insurance is supposed to cover 400 of it, but we are not sure if they are gonna do that. (We have cracked up insurance company) sad.gif Now I'm afraid to make a call and set up an appointment for prednisone. I guess no prednisone for me.

My mom's pissed. Phew... I guess I'll just wait it out. sad.gif

PS How long do cysts take to go away when you are on tane? Will they take like 2-3 months like they did before I started 'tane? Just wondering...

biggrin.gif

New Year's Resolution: Think less about acne; be positive; and enjoy the ride. Oh, add this: Destroy acne once and for all. evil.gif

THX GUYS!

You might not need to schedule an appointment to get a prescription. Some doctors will phone a prescription into the pharamacy as long as it isn't a narcotic. Look into this option if at all possible.

Also, insurance companies (like mine) sometimes make you pay out-of-pocket and then reimburse you within four to six weeks. If not, tell your mom to just resubmitting the claim. Insurance companies suck and they should be taken down.

I can't really tell you how long cysts take to go away because I've always used a steroid in order to get rid of the bad ones. You can try draining them yourself. If they open after a hot shower, push a little bit to alleviate the pressure and possibly get rid of some of the puss. Also, if your cysts have a head, ask your doctor to get you some Klaron too. This helps dry them up without causing a lot of irritation.

You should like you are in a better mood and that is great. We've all had those low moments and I'm happy that you're looking forward to conquering acne in the New Year!!!!

Go out. Have fun. Party. Laugh as much as possible.
