Baking Soda or Baking Powder?

I've tried baking powder; now I'm home for the holidays, and thinking of buying either powder or soda. Powder works well, so why do some people use baking soda?

Baking soda is the main ingredient in baking powder. However what you want to use to exfoliate is baking SODA which is also called sodium bicarbonate or bicarbonate of soda and NOT baking powder.

edit: Oh and BTW the reason and you want t use baking soda instead of baking powder is because Baking soda is pure bicarbonate of soda while baking powder is a combination of baking soda and an acid (such as cream of tartar) and a moisture-absorber (such as cornstarch)

So stick to the pure thing in order to avoid any irritation.
