Photodynamic therapy (Metvix /Levulan) at home?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys.

It's been through  my mind the idea of doing it by myself, a kind of soft PDT. I have a light led device (which is obviously not as powerful as medical devices) and I could get Metvix cream here in my country. I don't see the big science behind it, besides doing it with all the precautions and following the standard times.

I had PDT done (Levulan with red and blue light) 3 years ago. It completely cleared my cystic acne for 3 years, but now it came back and It's leaving scars. I had a price to pay as the treatment made my rosacea worse. Now I would do it only for my cheeks, as it is the place where I'm getting the scars.

I can't take accutane (long story) and I'm resistant to all the antibiotics at this point.

I would like to get someone's input about this. Is it too crazy? What can go wrong if I follow the same protocol used by the doctors? is it reasonable?
