Does anyone else do Phenol Peels aside from Dr. Rullan? Alternatives to Phenol Peel?

I never said you should NOT have the phenol peel, I agreed with the comment above that in my books it's unethical to charge such money for a procedure that gives only 20% (at best) improvement. As you said his prices are insanely high. It's hand twisting. I am just questioning the moral of this doctor who puts financial profit over the care and compassion for the patient.

As you said you can go to another specialist who offers the same treatments for normal prices. As experienced as he can be, he's not a heart surgeon. All he does is insert a needle( subcision) or apply acid. Any responsible and capable dermatologist with a bit of experience can do this. Rullan or Lim or anybody are not the wholy grail of doctors, sorry!

Rullan and Lim are world-class dermatologists who have successfully treated and improved the quality of life of hundreds, if not thousands, of patients. It's going to be expensive to get coaching or treatment by professionals who are elite at their craft, regardless of what field it's in. Subcision and phenol peels are very invasive and come along with significant risk, so seeing the most experienced doctors with a verifiable track record of success is one of the best things you can do. Of course treatment by the best dermatologists is going to be expensive, people travel all around the world to see them. If you can afford it, and I realize many cannot, it's probably one of the best investments you can make. For many, gaining improvement with acne scars is life changing and not even something you can fully put a price tag on.

Wow, 40% improvement from subcision and Infini RF is amazing. When did you have it done? Is the result still at 40% now?

I'm interested in having similar combination treatment - sub plus Genius RF. What would you say improved by the Infini treatment the most? My doctor who I consulted about Genius said that small pored, ice picks and box car scars would improve with Genius so that we dont really need TCA cross.

I had this done in December 2019. I noticed in late May that under the harsh overhead lighting of my phone while in the bathroom my scars appeared more level and softer. I know this because I'd give myself anxiety and depression hours before sleep whenever I'd wash my face.

My boxcars and rolling scars improved a lot. When I do a head tilt on either side of head using overhead bathroom lighting and look into the medicine cabinet mirror, they look much softer and leveled; they're practically gone from what I feel. It's overhead and front side lighting that makes them feel more apparent but I know they're improving.

I would still do TCA Cross on your icepicks. Buy a $10 tube on Amazon and do it yourself but as always, watch a video or two and BE CAREFUL.

Around May 2020, I also noticed psychologically that I wasn't bothered much about my scars compared to six months ago. Of course we're all seeking to have our best skin on this forum, it just didn't bother me as much, which is good.

The dermatologist advised me to continue at least three rounds of subcision+suction and InfiniRF 4-5 months apart. With the money that I have I'm investing in it as much as I can. Also, Infini and Genius are like Mint and Peppermint toothpaste, respectively, from what I heard. Don't get caught up on which RF device will make your face look better.

I always mention phenol because after my treatments are "done" I can finally smooth out the scars and hyperpigmentation from  years of collagen damage and repair. That and I have long standing hyperpigmentation from years of sports.

I agree with what you've written. Rullan has gained the expertise and can charge whatever prices he wants. If it's ethical everybody decides for themselves. In my opinion given the lengthy recovery process and small percentage of improvement guaranteed it's not. Other also good doctors can do the same for normal prices. I can afford Rullan but choose not to maily bc it's NOT a good investment. Many other doctors have also a lot of experience with scars and do what he does.

In my opinion a doctor should serve first and foremost his patients, not his financial interests. Chu was also a pioneer, a world-class scar specialist but charged £125 for a round of subcision. There are doctors and doctors.

About Rullan I've read only positive reviews. Lim, however, is a different story. Too much marketing. Too much overpromising with underdelivery. Too many accounts of ppl totally disappointed with even a consult with him. Most of his 5 star reviews are from ppl seeking advice not from actual patients. And let's not forget the disciplinary action taken against him by the Aussie medical board last year. So no, Lim is not a world-class specialist in my books. He's all about marketing hype.

Where are the thousands patients Lim's helped? Even on this board there are only limited number of accounts and many mixed accounts. Almost none with documented success. Where are his publications in medical journals with reliable photos before/after?

Sorry, not convinced.

It depends on your type of scarring but it was honestly not worth it for me. You spend 6k and get deep red for months, can only intake liquids for a week and when the mask came off I can immediately tell it wasn’t the expected results or nothing near what your told. They don’t really tell you that it actually takes 6-12 months to see results n again it’s minor. Yeah it’s better than nothing but this kinda jus convinced me it is what it is

That's unfortunate to hear. What kind of scars(boxcar, icepick etc) did you have? How long ago did you get the peel?

All scarring but it did almost nothing to the ice pick scars. Every scar is still visible and definitely still there it’s just I guess smoother. It’s been a year.

I also wasn’t under any anesthetic the second day. I felt him scrape everything off
