Hi,

Ive been battling acne since I was in 7th grade. Im now 49. Im constantly looking for ways to treat it and make my scars less noticeable. Anyway, Ive been watching Dr. Davin Lim on YouTube and he was talking about a new study that shows Differin helping with the reduction of ice-pick, box car and rolling scars. It may be worth it to check out his video. Just thought someone might find this information useful. Good luck to everyone.

Ps He also mentions acne.org in the video and says it works even better in conjunction with benzoyl peroxide and gave a nice shout out to acne.org products.

Yeah I also saw the video and checked out some of the papers he cites. He mentions that the average improvement was about a 15% reduction in acne scarring based on subjective assessment. Some of the pictures are interesting, especially the ones taken with medical cameras that do show the scars changing and looking less deep / wide. For a topical that you can get for about $15 at Target, I think it shouldn't hurt to try it.

The studies show that the best results were with the 0.3% adapalene, while only 0.1% is available over the counter.

Another interesting note is that he says it is best to use it on fresh scars to help remodel them and ultimately make them less severe.

Some papers that studied this....

I would take that study with a grain of salt considering most of the researchers have been paid by Galderma who is,SURPRISE,the makerof DIFFERIN. Adapalene is a very weak retinoid so I doubt it would do what they say it does. However, myderm actually turned me on to a study that says Tazorac had comparable results to microneedling. Id buy that more since Tazorac is the strongest of the retinoids.

Very true. Always take company sponsored studies with a grain of salt. The same reason why we should be skeptical about the studies from laser companies, with results that never seem to be replicated in the real world.
