Acne is a normal part of life

Just curious what your thoughts are on the idea that acne, as told by many healthcare practitioners, is a normal part of adolescence or growing up or whatever you want to call it.

Personally, I call this a huge pile of bullshit. When I think about it, acne is classified as a disease. To say that a disease is a normal thing is an extremely stupid thing to tell a patient. Who's with me?

And what's your experience been like?

I don't think it is a normal part of life when it's persistent into adulthood and very severe. Heck, even when you're in puberty and have severe acne it isn't a normal part of life. Healthcare professions are very dismissive to a patients feelings. Most people DO get some acne in their teen years but really nothing that could not be remedied by over the counter products. People with severe acne are the outlier and suffering from a disease.

Approximately 80% of the people I see on a daily basis of all ages have entirely clear skin.

Very much agreed.
