As titled, anyone know where to get subcision in perth?
I have a really bad rolling scarring, ice picks, all over the face.
At the moment i m having microneedling treatment, its been over 1 years and it show very small improvement.
I tried laser before and its doesnt work at all.
I have tried calling few dermatology but the receptionist doesnt seems to know what i am talking about.
So if someone can recommend me a good place i can get it done, that would be greatly appreaciated.
I booked a dermatology appointment in Melbourne and the girl that tried to sell me Radio frequency micro needling had no idea either. Good thing I did my research and watched a lot of Dr. Davin Lim's videos and insisted to speak with the dermatologist. He knew what I was talking about and I am quite happy with the results now. I think ice picks will benefit more from TCA cross or excision but the rolling scars will definitely be minimized with subcision.
@Goawayacne88Unfortunately Perth is the one place we don't really have a Dr. We have had a few patients who called around like yourself and asked and there was nothing. One got a Dr to do a poor job on subcision with a normal needle. Checkout the FAQ pinned to the main scar treatments sub, goto the bottom of that for Dr's. A big part of your treatment is covered under Medicare in AUS so even if you travel to Lim - BRIS, etc, that can help. You only would need a few treatments *flying, and could do other energy devices more local to you (some fly once once a year).IF you still want to try to find someone keep calling. Do you have a dermatology school in Perth, try to call there and ask about subcision. I think the issue your running into is your calling general derms who are not cosmetic dermatologists or plastic surgeons. The AUS who live in the west often call plastic surgeons for something like this. Many will just blast your with energy devices before doing manual methods, which should always be done first.

I managed to find a cosmetic surgeon clinic that does this. They said it they starting price would be from 500,
I have to booke appointment for consulation first and see what they say.
How much did you pay for yours ? Wondering if dearmatologist would be cheaper option.
And thanks for recommending Davin Lim videos. I watched few, and he looks very honest in his recommendation, wish he were here in perth .

I think i found a cosmedic surgeon clinic that does this. Unsure if its would cosy more this way.
Obviously this wont be cover under medicare..
Would it be cover under medicare if i were to see dermatologist instead?
@Goawayacne88That price is supper cheap. I would be asking how many times they have done it before and the type of needle they use.
Perhaps they are already giving you the Medicare rebate, see the above fee list.
You will need 3-8 sessions, and filler is needed as well if you have pits.
I believe you have to hit a cap for your yearly medicare Which is $1000 something and then it kicks in for further treatments (Speak to the dr about this). If it's a cosmetic med spa clinic they may not be able to help with this.
Let me know if the Dr is good, always good to find more practitioners,... get asked about Perth every so often.
I paid $600 and $2300 for Fractional CO2 at the same time. They invoiced it all under CO2 laser (non fractional), so I ended up getting $600 medicare rebate. I think subcision is rebatable however fractional is not. I still have some SLOWLY shrinking haematomas from the needle entry point but all the scars smooth now (and its 3 week+ sincethat onesession).

Dr Caroyln Choy does subcision. Uses a regular needle, not a nokor or cannula; I have heard a few people like BA say this is less efficient, but haven't really heard why, I still got the popping sound. I would recommend her.
Whatever you do, do not go to MedAesthetics in Subiaco, I had one from there and the guy did not know how to do subcision. He also charges a fortune, and he was arguing with me about the effectiveness of subcision in the consultation when I said I am here for it, saying its an 'outdated' procedure and lasers are the future. Clearly, any medical study on acne scars or dermatologist who specialises in acne scars would suggest otherwise - the indian man who works there is merelya cosmetic surgeon, not a dermatologist.
I can only assume AussieDingDong went here as he too tried to sell my fractional CO2 at the same time, and the prices were about the same. Unfortunately you won't get any popping sound from him, it was only after I went to Carolyn I got what seemed to be proper subcision.

Depending on how thick the scar fiber is, regular hypodermic needle is not strong enough to cut through the scar. Most of the time, it will bend. Also you want to cut the scar as clean as you can. This is not ideal with a regular needle.
Hi All, Its been over a year since the last post. I didnt want to create a new post since its gonna be the same question. Any updates regarding where to go for subcision treatments in Perth? Any feedback of place you went to would be helpful. Im in my 40s and just decided to do something about my acne scars. Better late than never I guess.
