Great Improvement

Recommended Posts

Is this you? Or is this from a before and afters page on a doctor website? Remember, everybody's skin and scars are different, so results will vary due to the way people heal. A doctor is only going to post their absolute success stories. They will not post the ineffective ones.

I prefer to hear about people posting their own personal success stories. If this is you, then I offer my congratulations.

It makes me sad that they are classifying filler as "treatment."  Filler is not treatment, it is camouflage.

If they did not do that, the improvement would be only modest in most cases. Especially if the patient is older.

Swelling? How long was that photo taken after treatment? Also with fillers these are a temporary measure, unless you choose to go with a more permanent filler (Bellafill). Unfortunately, Bellafill isn't available in my country and I don't think I'd be able to afford paying for fillers annually.

Why are we posting beauty shots? ... I understand you guys need encouragement and are dealing with the mental struggle of acne scars. But everyone's treatment is different. We already have success stories on this site of actual patients, who were not paid for sharing their outcome. We all heal differently and need different treatments. Dr's pick their best patients to post these social media advertisements. It is sad that so many who want aesthetics today buy treatments based on social media marketing.

1) This is NOT Lim's patient, It's Dr Wiener in Florida's patient. It's a advertisement.  In the description it mentions that.

2) The patient above had subcision and Bellafill a permanent filler. Dr Wiener believes in using lots of this. Remember permanent filler equals permanent problems. We start with a HA filler to stimulate our own collagen, ... if you like it and need ongoing volume, then sure get Bellafill. Bellafill can have issues as well as it's not naturally found in the body (a HA product is).  It's not reversible if you do not like it, or it migrates.

3) Any of you could get this result if you healed well, got filler and subcision. We do not know when the picture was taken it could be under swelling post procedure making things look better.

4) Filler is a treatment, we are NOT using it for volume with subcision, but a spacer for your OWN Collagen to be formed.

5) The PIE or redness is gone hiding the scars as well. The pic above had redness in the pits.

I thought they could do that with saline or prp instead of filler, which is usually a lot more expensive.

Some doctors are using PDO threads with fillers to get good improvement as well

@arug Sure you can use saline, ... who has time to goto the Dr all the time for injections, the cost would be prohibitive and unpredictable. Saline is only used for atrophy of fresh steriod to flush. PRP ""can"" be good but I often find it does not work on some patients. Cupping can be good and work on "some" patients, it takes a lot of dedication, can lead to bruising and lumps if one goes crazy, ... some have re-attachment. Filler is predictable. It really comes down to what one can afford, if you buy a cheap car, it's not a sports car right, but fine for some types of people.

thanks BA. my skin always looks better when filled. but it hasn't done diddley squat for the actual scars--they're still there. i did get some modest improvement with halo, though.

before/afters are often very sketchy. they change the lighting, angle, focus, and depth from the camera often, and as previously mentioned, take advantage of that glorious honeymoon period of post-procedural swelling. i can make document camera photos of my skin look perfect without photoshop just by changing the angle of my desk lamp. but i would hate to put photos of myself manipulated like that out there and have people disappointed in my real life appearance!

@arug Filler isn't the solution to everything, mainly to deeper pits ;-) Volume to the whole cheek can make surface scars look better, sadly many do not get enough product. I suggest Sculptra for this purpose as HA would be expensive.

Ah yes swelling, ... when most Drs say look your all better come back for more before it runs out. Common trick. Hence 3 month wait between treatments.

I think I am too realistic some times and make people loose heart in the marketing. Some will get 0% improvement, some heal poorly, some get 50% after all their treatments. It's a tough journey. Cost benefit analysis is a must.
