So i am 23, i have had Severe acne on back, chest, and abdomen since about 2014, I have been on multiple body washes (cheap and expensive), have been on minocycline for about 5 months w no diff. My diet is really clean (no dairy, rarely any eggs, clean proteins, etc just healthy) have had allergy testing, have even had an MRI to see if it was adrenal related (MRI results normal), all blood tests normal (thyroid normal) exercise regularly, only supplement i take is vegan protein powder, yet i breakout like crazy! my face doesn't breakout like before. (pretty clear of active acne). But my back is killing me it is itchy, and has lots of severe nodules, will be going to one of the top 3 dermatologists in arizona on December 31st. Will ask derma for a skin culture to see if perhaps it is fungal or something else. If not i am gonna accept Accutane, I know the risks and have decided to just go for it. will update here for anyone who wants to follow.
I know that things such as carbohydrates cause me to break out. I stay away from alcohol, dairy and omega 6 fats. I do eat complex carbs such as oats (with blue berries) but i try not to overdo it. I know that if the carbs are over 30 or so maybe 50 grams in a meal its a guarantee breakout (for me).
I have never been on accutane but i feel that if i was when i was younger i wouldn't have the scars i have now.
I hope it helps your situation.
op Here
on pill 25 of 40mg:
IB: total of 3 (now dead small pimples on entire face.) chest and back does seem to be going through a purge, even tho my upper back is a bit more decreasing in cysts.
side effects: DRY lips, and overall dryness, had a few headaches around pill 10 but haven't gotten them anymore, few nosebleeds here and there.
Improvement in body acne: id say around 8%
will update again later around pill 40, I'm also on day 17 of keto, no major diff noticed yet, will probably ask term to bump me up to 60 mg for my second month.
I've been on accutane for almost 5 months. For me the overal side effects are very manageable . I do experience some muscle pain, but not bad at all. Just remember that everyone's experience is different.
