Can anyone identify what kind of acne/scarring is on the back on my neck and shoulders and perhaps advise what sort of treatment area I should be looking at?

My face is pretty much clear but the back of my neck and shoulders are terrible I have no idea why it's only these areas affected|

Many thanks!

Hi there, this could be several things, but it seems to be pustular cystic body acne. Please goto a Dr as soon as possible. Accutane would be used in a case like this. IT can be caused by many things, hormonal imbalance - excess testosterone, auto immune like condition, allergies, poor immune system, etc. The Dr has to get your acne under control then start co2 laser and steriod drip, The red wounds are concerning and you can get vascular laser for this. the body is hard to treat. Cut out all dairy, sugar, processed foods, eat lots of veggies, and organic vegetables, you can add fruit back in. There are body washes like acne.orgs BP wash which dries out the acne, or sulfur wash. Some Dr's treat cases like this with photo therapy. This is a hard case I would goto a derm as soon as possible.

These are hypertrophic scars, there is a section in the FAQ about them, goto the first post under scar treatments, find that section.

Hey you should go see your GP and he/she will be able to refer you to a NHS dermatologist, who can prescribe specialist treatment. I think your case is quite severe so I think you should see your GP as soon as possible;and if it is impacting your life/self-esteem then make sure your GP is aware of it otherwise they wont take it too serious!
