Almost two months ago I had a slight abrasion from a rug burn that has been slightly red. I went to my Dermatologist (who has great reviews) and he said it was red because it looked like there was bacteria underneath the skin. He prescribed me Clindamycin and has been using a small stick that feels cold on it (don't know how else to describe it). Does this sound like it can be true or should i get a second opinion?

Get a second opinion. Always good in these situations. He could be right. Wounds take a long time to heal,... a year for some. Better to make sure on a bacterial situation. The antibiotic could not have be effective after all.

You can try antibacterial creams until then, keep the area moist. There is triple antibiotic, Vaseline re-apply a few times daily and vinegar soaks (pats) dilute with water (don't rub) to clean, or a hydrogel wound product.
