Hey folk,

I need help. I am going to GPs and skin clinics etc too. But it would be helpful to hear from those who suffered from the same looking condition.
I have been "diagnosed" (by GPs without any skin analysis or skin biopsies) with Rosacea once, Perioral Dermatitis twice and Folliculitis was suspected by another practitioner. I have had a mite going crazy on my skin when I was about 23 years old, when my immune system wasn't strong enough because of the antibiotic I was taking (for the first and to this day last time in my life). Cryotherapy (nitrogen therapy) helped in less than three weeks then, and only because my skin specialist was just amazing. Haven't had flare ups since then.
This time (and I noticed from my selfies on insta as well it's been there on the left side of my chin for at least a year now but in a very mild form - maybe one-three small spots/tiny pimples) it flared up after I went overseas (left Australia in summer to travel to Austria, Germany, Georgia and Russia in winter). I obviously ran out of my skin products and used a whole bunch of whatever was available in the hotels or at home in Russia. I was very careful in hotels however, I never sleep on their pillowcases, I have mine on me when I travel, same with towels and I haven't used face towels since I was maybe 20 years old, just cotton disks. But also there obviously was a change in lifestyle - lots of drinking, no sleep, some stress too. And I was very stressed before I went overseas because of work and came back to the same stress after travels. I did eat not very well during winter here in Australia too - lots of takeaway food, burgers, chocolate, not enough water.  I also worked with charcoal powder without a mask (I am an artist) for about three months straight and had a bit of a depression so stayed in that same room where I worked most times, even though I kept it clean I think charcoal dust is very fine and could just be everywhere. And this is when it went full on on the left side of my chin.

Question here. Does perioral dermatitis appear only on one side of one's chin or is it always symmetrical? Could this be it or is it something scarier than POD. And I know it's hard to cure and it's already made me feel very alienated and depressed. Can't put make up on, and even when I do it looks awful so I don't anymore. I've read a lot about POD so I know all about the do's and don'ts but just wanted to see if any of you had something similar and could potentially confirm this could be it?

Photos are: in black jumper - when it was starting to flare up a few months ago, the straight up photo that looks just terrifying is how it looks now. It got worse after I waxed the top of my lip and it just broke me out and it went all the way up to my eye almost sorta thing. It either caused it to spread or it just broke me out and they are two separate things. I am also prone to acne. I am not sure how the photos will upload, so apologies ahead.5b92502b1cb58_20180610_1525031.thumb.jpg.3e91045425d314e88a493f4f43318612.jpg

Do you sleep on your left side more than your right? And skin conditions dont have to be synmetrical. As for waxing did you wax your face? Cause waxing causes pores to be conjested especially if the ingredients are comedogenic. Perhaps its a water problem? Showerhead filter to replace hardwater.

I did sleep on the left side predominantly for the past few months at my boyfriend's, but it started way earlier. I've had something minor on the left side of the chin for at least a year. I thought it might be just clogged skin + gut + plus the fact that my bf's bedroom doesn't have any natural light coz he draped the windows. Whilst my room and bed are always almost too clean as I am a freak in that sense, his isn't. And I think it just worsened it. Like you know how we all actually have mites on our skin, but sometimes they just go out of control. I think that is what happened and I contributed to it by eating takeaway food, not drinking enough water and actually spending a lot of time in bed or at home coz I wasn't super happy for a couple of months too.
I will try get a biopsy. It's just so painful and it might even make it worse, but it's better to know what we're treating with my cosmetologist than not.
I've moved house, don't think it's a water problem.. And I only waxed at the top of my lip. But what they do at every salon these days is they wax and then apply some cream on the skin. And I am no pro at this kind of stuff but I'd personally use a toner or some antiseptic first to close the pores and then apply any creams. Plus she applied it with her hands and I didn't like that either. I usually wash my hands before touching my face, she defs had to wash hers in that case. Anyways, it is what it is. I am obviously very upset atm. Trying lots of things and hoping for the best. It's improving a bit, but I am not sure what exactly is causing the improvements coz I quit things like sugar and gluten and went on low carb + high fat + high protein diet, started exercising again, added a litre of water on top of my usual consumption, zinc, calcium and D supplements, chlorophyll in the morning, stopped taking the pill, stopped putting stuff on my face almost completely. I only just apply rubbing alcohol on spots and La Roche Posay product for skins prone to atopy and allergies etc (even though I am not). It's nice thin cream. And I use a baby wash with literally nothing harmful in it sometimes. The cleansing milk and kiwi oil which my cosmetologist was swearing by assuming it was POD should've worked if it was POD, but it didn't.
Not much else I can do until I get biopsy done next week sometime.
I believed it was POD, but I am not so sure anymore.
Thanks for the comment!
