I™m 25 and have had good skin most my life all of a sudden over past year I™ve been getting bad small white heads in clusters on my temples of my face and top of my cheeks and I can™t work out what is causing them no where online I read has similar I was wondering if you could help me know what type acne this is or skin reaction? It comes for around two days clears up then comes back - it™s very random sometimes painful!?? It™s effecting my confidence and I don™t feel like me anymore ?!
Your skin conditions are caused by fungus, most likely malassezia fungus. Malasezzia invades the pores and follicles of the skin when one's immune system is weakened from taking antibiotics and some other meds.
Yes, do use an antifungal shampoo, but ALSO buy terbenafine antifungal cream sold as Lamisil or similar) and apply it to the affected areas 2-3 times a day. If you cannot get terbenafine cream, buy and apply clotrimazole antifungal cream (often sold as Canesten) to the affected areas 2-3 times a day. No prescription required for clotrimazole cream. You can apply the two creams together if you wish.
Fungal outbreaks on skin, including fungal acne, are caused by taking antibiotics, birth control pills and some other meds.
Do NOT apply organic oils or moisturisers to the affected areas as these will feed the fungus.
The problem should clear partly or fully after 1-2 weeks of applying the antifungal creams.
