It™s been 3 weeks since I™ve started Rosccutane, and from now I™ll be trying to update this journal everyday for the rest of my time on the drug in question.
Side effects so far:
> Dry skin (obviously...)
> Dry lips (obvious, again...)
> Back pain
> Dry/Sore eyes
>Nosebleeds

Wednesday 14th Feb 2018:
had a small nosebleed at school. Lips have been fine, topped up with Vaseline and my face has stayed hydrated/moisturised all day at school so all is well. initial breakout seems to be dying down slightly, hoping I won™t get a massive influx of spots round my mouth like usual again for a while.

Thursday 15th February 2018:
skin is looking okay, no nose bleed today, keeping my nose topped up with Vaseline as well as my lips.

Friday 16th February 2018:
Massive nosebleed with gushing stream of blood, completely out of nowhere in the morning before school. Dry dry lips which I™ve conbatted with Vaseline of course and they™re okay now.
Update: had two more nosebleeds in the evening out of nowhere. Really getting fucked off with nosebleeds now and I must find a solution!

Saturday 17th February 2018.
been lining the inside of my nose with Vaseline every 2-3 hours and have had no nosebleeds today so that seems to be a viable method. Face looks slightly worse than the last couple of days but overall I™m feeling okay. lips are being dealt with fine, but my back really hurt as I got into bed and tried to lay down which was rather unnerving. Felt like an old man!

Sunday 18th Febuary 2018:
lips were particularly dry today, but I tried lining my nose with Vaseline every 2-3 hours again with Q-tips and I haven™t had a nosebleed so that seems to be working. Face feels very itchy and it™s hard not to pick. It also looks worse than it has done the last few days which is a bummer, and there™s an alarming amount of spots around the left side of my forehead.

Monday 19th February 2018:
Skin feeling pretty mank, but yet again no nosebleeds thanks to Vaseline! Hurray!!

Tuesday 20th February 2018:

1 MONTH COMPLETED
A6FE4CDC-4D92-44B9-B1CF-A485F28B4523.jpeg8994B73B-4671-49AD-845D-34695237ED48.jpegD1181DC4-93F2-4C72-99EB-90DFB553C57A.jpegF354ED79-0397-48D8-9783-E408C6B7D137.jpeg9604DE87-6B05-45D8-B365-18A63720C64D.jpegFECDA96A-EDCF-4068-9D0C-0A0F99E36AE4.jpeg381B6756-8D35-440F-97F0-68EC8C8BCE77.jpeg

1 month down, 3 to go. I feel like my acne has actually worsened to be perfectly honest. I™m hoping I only have to stick to the 4-month course as I have a 1 week holiday in Lanzarote in July and I don™t want to be dying in the heat over there! No nosebleed today, and lips have been very dry. itchy neck and the spot above my lip has been a bit sore.

Wednesday 22nd February 2018:
got three massive whiteheads above my top lip, AGAIN. yay. skin feels horrible and I definitely should've put moisturizer on my face in the morning. think this is the worst my skin has ever been. Feeling horrid and very self-conscious but gotta keep going and stick with it.

Thursday 23rd February 2018:
skin is still bad, nothing different to yesterday. although I have taken the capsule very late in the day by accident the past two days.

Tuesday 10th April 2018:
hey you lot. Just hit my 11th week on ROaccutane, 3rd week on 60mg. Everything is noticeably drier, but I finally feel like my skin is picking up now! My Bacne is HUGELY improved, my left shoulder is a LOT better and my face is being less aggressive now! These pics don™t have the flash on but you™ll be able to see the progress! :)BD3DB6CD-383C-4271-9753-B8F7A1D08950.thumb.jpeg.3c3484e1af44e09f7d8754a660a87b2d.jpeg54F7D03B-CE4C-4BDD-9877-CABCA5489B9F.thumb.jpeg.816756d68afd8d97a79e1e54f659c781.jpegDBE7A1BF-BBE6-44D6-B5DA-6445268C9111.thumb.jpeg.8c24427a4851f5a13cf250f6fd699975.jpeg9C4468E5-A3EA-47D5-839D-7B3BD77B63C7.thumb.jpeg.d781f13f0658a8ac56b31ed4ca15324a.jpegA45CD98C-EA61-48F4-83CB-D31885F51CDE.thumb.jpeg.6aef7ec048e40622e4c263f60eb3bbab.jpegB5C2AE95-5A08-4FDD-A36B-B57981FEDBB3.thumb.jpeg.8df7b0f3cb614175ab5e38266446457a.jpeg

I'm on my third week too and my lips were super gross with Burts Bees, Jack Black, and Vaseline. Dr. Dan's lip balm saved them and after 2 hours, applying once, my lips are back to perfectly smooth. My face hasn't been dry or itchy but I moisturize it in the morning at night and it has been working so far. I still am breaking out but I keep telling myself to wait 2 weeks because it will change!

Hoping my derm ups my dosage to maybe 60mg a day so from month 2 onwards the tane really kicks acne out of my system for good.

(Not being able to edit your post could be the new site update - seems to be messing with certain functions).

In terms of the Roaccutane - just wanted to say that it's perfectly normal for acne to get worse before it gets better. I didn't see the real improvement until the end of month 3, but now I'm two months post-accutane and I've been acne free for three months I think.

Just a note - you mentioned you're going away to Lanzarote in July? You may want to keep out of the sun as much as possible. Accutane leave skin fragile and sun-sensitive for several months after you stop, so you'll also want to invest in a good sunscreen - I'm talking factor 50. If you're in the UK, Vichy do an amazing facial sunscreen/moisturiser that worked really well while I was on Accutane - you can pick it up in boots: Vichy Ideal Soleil Velvety Face Sun Cream SPF50+ - 16.50.

I've kept a detailed account of my experience with Roaccutane if you want to give it a read.

So my derm upped me today to 1 pill on odd days and one morning, one night on even days to help me slowly adjust to a higher dosage. Hoping this is what really helps to get rid of it

Hey man, I must admit I have popped a couple. I have a GF and we were gonna spend the day together and I couldnt face going to see her with 2 massive whiteheads on my face so I just popped them carefully and cleaned it up. Im trying to touch my spots the least amount I can possibly do tho. To be honest dude, its gettikg easier not to touch them at all as time goes on. Doesnt help that my face now has like 3 massive whiteheads and 3 other small ones...

I start in like 4 days now and I'm still popping. I need a bit of self restraint. Good luck

Yes, honestly, from everything I've read, it's just simply not worth popping anything. Popping is just an immediate way out, but really, any whitehead will only last 2 weeks max, once that happens it'llflake off or pop even itself, and then your body can heal the way it should. popping only causes damage that isn'tnecessary. What dosage are you starting on?

Do you think its reasonable to expect that my treatment will be done in four months? my derm said thats how long the course is but Ive got such a horrid feeling Ill need longer having read so many stories from people whore on it anywhere from 5-9 months. If so, this will mean itll overlay the holiday as well as the entirety of summer. is it worth stopping the course even at 4 months just so I can enjoy the summer more? I could do that if I havent improved yet.
...+ ill give your journal a read man!

Good luck with Accutane! I have recently gone back on after not completing my first treatment. Accutane really does cure acne, I was very surprised and pleased with my results but the only downside is the side effects and the time it takes to work (Which sucks because I am not a patient person). Just stick with Accutane and within 2-3 months you should start seeing big improvements!

:)

This sums up my experience of Roaccutane pretty well: Yesterday my face was relatively clear, no visible whiteheads. by the end of today, I now have 5-6 decently sized whiteheads. 36 hours between a clear face and my present disgusting state.

I feel like I'mwaiting for a miracle for my treatment to be over in 4 months.

Honestly, if I were you I'd just stick with it. It takes as long as it takes. Even if you finish your course before your holiday, your skin is still going to be sensitive to the sun for a good four to six months afterwards. Basically, you're not going to be doing a lot of sunbathing. Invest in a good, wide-rimmed hat and sun cream and hope that we have a dreary, cloudy summer. It's just one summer after all.
I was actually offered Accutane in March, but put it off until August so that I could enjoy my holiday abroad. In a way I'm glad I did this, as the sun wasn't so much of a problem, but at the same time, I could have been clear four months earlier.

Yeah Ive realised that realistically Im just going have to stay out of the sun as much as I can. Goodbye tan
