Hi everyone! I just picked up my first Accutane (Absorica) prescription (40mg once a day), and will begin taking it later this week! I just wanted to keep a log of my experience and maybe help others who are thinking about using it! I have had moderate to severe acne ever since I can remember, probably starting around 7th grade. I am now 21, and I am still struggling with it. I have tried topical creams, antibiotics, and every secret home remedy, but to no success. It has definitely affected my self esteem, and I am ready to finallly (hopefully) see some results!
I am currently on anxiety medication, and my joints already hurt a lot (oops) but I™m optimistic that the medication will not affect that. I will attach some pics of my face as of this morning and hopefully take some more along the way.

How long is your 40mg for? I would like a low dose as such to try and reduce severity of side effects.

Day 7
7 days down!! I™m still not noticing much of a difference. My skin still looks the same, and is still super oily. No initial breakout yet either. I hope it holds off because I have a very important interview on Tuesday lol! My lips are still flaky and my hands are dry but that™s probably due to the cold... no joint pain when I™m working out, and I™m still as happy as ever. Everything™s going good with accutane so far, will update soon. 
Day 8
MY FACE IS SO ITCHY! Has anyone else had this problem? It just started today and I dont know if it has anything to do with accutane but wow its driving me crazy! Anyway, besides that everything is fine. Im still getting new acne spots which is annoying but expected. Also I dont think I mentioned this but I have acne on my chest and shoulders too. Hope this medicine helps that as well!
DAY 9
okay, so my face is still EXTREMELY ITCHY. I moisturize every morning and evening and it™s still driving me crazy lol. Also, I think my IB is gonna start soon. It seems like every pore on my face is raised, and my skin feels so rough 
so annoying. My face is also super shiny and looks sunburned. But I™m still staying optimistic! (Also sorry the light is so weird, idk what happened lol) 
Day 11
So my face isnt as itchy anymore, but its starting to get dry. My lips are the worst... they hurt so bad and are super red and swollen... whenever I have makeup on, my skin is so flaky. Still moisturizing twice a day. Also, it still feels like every pore on my face is raised, its only probably going to get worse as the IB kicks in, I feel like my face is just going to be one giant spot... also my hands and feet are super dry. Staying strong though! We got this, accutane warriors!

Omg! I totally feel you! My face looks so bad with makeup because of the dryness And my lips are starting to get very dry... on the bright side tho, they look more plump! Lol I just keep telling myself this will be so worth it!
Day 13
So my face is barely itchy at all, and feels so much smoother as compared to a few days ago! I can now wash my face without cringing because it felt like sandpaper lol. I also think my face is looking clearer already? Is that possible? I still have a lot of tiny little bumps but no active major cysts or anything is is new! Lips and hands are still dry but I™m managing. Everything is goin great!

thank you!! and yes i am wearing makeup every day. I wish I didn't but I still feel too self-conscious without it.

Yeah I am still dreading the horrible IB... and I'm such a bad skin picker so its gonna be sooooo hard! But I will do my best. Also, I wish I could go out without makeup. I just feel so bad without it.
Day 15
Everything is still going good. My face is still pretty smooth aside from a few tiny bumps around my jaw line and chin. I did have a cystic one come up around my nose though. my face is mainly scarring but that should fade hopefully. Still waiting for the IB. Also my face is still pretty flaky and it makes it so hard not to mess with it! OH and I have a question: around the time I started this medicine, I also started eating low carb, meaning I stopped eating bread, pasta and basically all sugars. Do you think this has helped my face clear up? Thanks accutane warriors!
