Dr. Emil Henningsen good doctor?

Recommended Posts

I cannot find any reviews of him or before and after photos. He's recommended by Davin Lim but is he as good as him? Who is the best acne scar specialist in europe?

Well, I would seriously suggest you take your time and do your research on the doctor in question, and not merely take what Dr. Lim or anyone else recommends. I, for one, went to one of the reputable doctors that both Dr. Lim and Beautifulambition mentioned. Truth be told, I wasn't impressed. When I went in for a free consultation, I spent the entire time briefing with a gal who greeted me from the front desk. Anyway, this doc was known to utilize "multiple treatment modalities" like Dr. Lim. But it really turned out to be nothing but a combination of fat transfer and ablative CO2 laser (no subcision, no filler, no Infini), all for merely $8,000 USD. Are you f*cking kidding me? This was not even close to anything I saw from Dr. Davin Lim's video. I said no thanks and walked out.

So my advice is take these recommendations with a grain of salt and do your own homework. I doubt Dr. Lim even personally know any of the doctors he recommend, including Dr. Emil.

I just saw the picture of your forehead. I dunno what others told you but YOU DO NOT NEED SUBCISION. Those pits are too shallow and subcision will not help. What you need is a filler or fat transfer.

Serius-lee? Beautifull ambition adviced it to me and davin lim said laser would not be a good choice. He would microvertically inject botox to break tethered bonds and in a later stage use subcision with ha filler combined with microneedling/prp.

i would like to find a doctor in Europe who can do this.

Inject Botox to break up the tethered bonds? Hmm, that's new to me. While I highly respct Dr. Lim, I would suggest you ask around for second opinion. It doesn't appear that you have tethered scars and almost all of the pits are very shallow. What you show, however, is a crater-like depression from fat depletion in the forehead. If you fill that depression using filler, be it HA or fat, the pits will disappear along with the crater. This is no rocket science in my mind.

Interesting. I knew that Botox was used in the pre-keloid scar prevention, but I didn't know whether it could break down existing fibrous tissues.

BTW have you seen this before? Here he also mentions Botox, but only after many subcisions.

Dr Emil was trained and worked with Chu, this is why we don't ask for all sorts of results. Chu is well known. Contact him if you wish to ask for more info.

@Ryan92 I have been helping you now for a year, seems like your obsessing over this. If you like Dr Lim's treatment req then go do that. Worrying and obsessing over it is not healthy. He basically said the same ting as me subcision and you can do peels afterwards. Botox he is using in a combo treatment, you can do this separate as well from the sucision. This isn't that revolutionary. Botox has saline, he's basically saying use it as a spacer, just like saline injections.

Who Serius likes or does not like is inconsequential to me. The doctor he dislikes is probably Dr. Rapaport or Dr Young. Others have had good experiences with them.  You don't have to do the full treatment plan ... you can ask for one thing to be done (most that is subcision). We are giving you options and advice, not complaining. It's your due diligence to research. These doctors are not even the highest rated ones on the list.  I am only trying to help you. This is why people get second opinions. Not everyone can fly around the world for scar treatment or leave their state. Get a second opinion! You don't like it walk out.

@ScarRight That's not the point. The point is to release the tethers and use a "spacer" or Chinese cupping so the body can heal. Filler can be done but the surgeon has to be very good, this area has major arteries and vascularity. The question you should be asking is you will get older, loose bone and fat, and that is not temporary if you do nothing. Start with subcision and HA filler. If you like the results get Bellafill PMMA. Permanent is not the best way to go to start.

Hi All, I found Emil Henningsen through Davin Lim and decided to go and visit after having some TCA cross sessions locally in the UK.  I have ethnic skin and couldn't find anybody that I was comfortable getting treated with locally as I had deep acne scars and am not suitable for CO2 etc.  Many that I went to see gave me the same spiel and didn't really understand the theory behind treatment as Davin Lim explains it - e.g. multiple techniques tailored to the type of scars.

Emil and his clinic were absolutely amazing.  He has deep knowledge of scar types and treatment, he used a combination of 5 different treatment types for my face and the results have been amazing.  The aftercare was also superb, plenty of creams provided and exact instructions on what to do in the days following.  Emil emailed me a few times once even over a weekend to check-in and ask for pictures of the healing.

The pricing was also extremely fair and they were not salesy at all.  I don't often leave reviews but this warranted it and I hope that it may help somebody else.  I was close to not booking with Emil only because he didn't have any YouTube videos uploaded in English, however I am very glad that I did and he speaks perfect English by the way.  10/10

Adi, great to hear you had such a positive experience and are happy with your treatment and results!
Do you have any plans to share further details with the forum? Could be helpful! Before/After photos and which 5 treatments Emil used.

Emil is highly trained as he was under the NHS scheme, much like Dr Lim, Novick, Rullan. Prof Chu is an amazing dermatologist and teacher. Dr Lim frequently transfers his care of patients that see him from Europe to either of these 2 dermatologist. Emil has a true passion for helping people with scarring. Communication between specialist does not always translate to optimal patient care, and results.

I would also LOVE to hear more!! I am trying to work up the courage to go see him. I live in Denmark, but I am so afraid of making my skin worse. Therefore anyone’s experience with him would be much appreciated.

Hello!!

I am planning to visit Dr Emil's clinic. If you don't  mind would you like to mention the treatment cost for the 5 combinations and what were those a(apart the after care)? I want to have a rough estimate.

Are you satisfied with the result you have got so far?

Thank you and good luck!!

Hello All :)

I've been a follower of the site for a long time, and finally decided to make a post, as it might help someone else  - so please feel free to ask (will maybe copy-paste this message where I find it relevant). I've been a patient of Emil Henningsen for somewhere between 2-3 years, with breaks, (time flies!) and just wanted to tell about my experience.

Quick back story - when I was 19 my acne got bad, I wen't on isotretinoin/accutane, cleared up, but the acne had resulted in some scarring (rolling-scars, a few boxcars and some ice picks as well, and a ton of red marks) - I tried other dermatologist before Emil, who did some Co2-laser treatments, which for a moment eased my mind (as it improved some superficial texture and discolouration), however as time passed i never really felt satisfied about the results - and as I later learned , the "deeper" scars did not respond that effectively to the laser. Through e.g this site I educated myself, and that's why I wanted to try subcision - and basically how i ended up at Emil, because I had heard good things.

I've always felt very welcome and understood at Emil, and I trust him completely. Emil and I tried several different approaches with the subcision (individual combination with e.g Laser, microneedling or filler - of which especially the last had brought very good results) - and it was a great way to find out what gave the best result for my skin - I've learned, and it seems to be the case with many - that a combination of different treatments gives better improvement. Emil has always been good at explaining the technical site of things, and made me feel safe. I don't think I will ever trust my skin with another doctor than him, as he has been part of this process and understand my concerns completely. He is just all in all, an extremely professional and empathic doctor who has the patients best interests at heart.

My face has improved a lot, and I am still seeing Emil for some treatments (right now we treat some persistent redness and one fibrous bump, which never subsided on it's own, common side effect from the subcision. We are also doing some "light subcision" to certain scars with a small needle while applying filler to give those scars the last bit of volume - which is another thing I appreciate a lot with Emil, it is not just the same standard procedure each time, he really cares about getting the best result - there is always a dialogue and a evaluation of what the smartest treatment-step would be now according to how the scars have responded to previous treatments etc.

Fixing your skin takes a lot of mental capacity and patience - and mine is not perfect, but I am nearing that point, where I can be satisfied with the way I look, and put this whole thing "behind" me. This post is awfully long already, sorry about that.

But some good advice:

1) Find a skilled doctor you trust - I can highly recommend Emil, and I personally feel so lucky and thankful for the improvements I've gotten so far. It has really improved my life quality a lot.

2) Educate yourself and learn what works for you. A big part of my experience is also about learning and researching your concerns on your own, which many on this site obviously do. It makes it easier to talk to your doctor and be critical and in that way find the right solutions for your skin. And you feel more in control as well, which I found important to me, because it is an exhausting process, with lots of doubts - things such as swelling, bumps, redness and discovering scars you never notices before because the bigger ones improved - all of these things sometime makes you frustrated, make you feel low and like you're not improving  - which is why knowledge is important - it keeps you focused and less likely to get lost.

Some examples - I would get to know my scars by sitting in a room with a mirror with the light switched off, turn on the flashlight on my phone and light up and reveal my scars from different angles, and sometimes mark them with a pen close to a treatment - It is painful to watch, but I would do this in order to know my scars well, to focus on improvement , and so that when me and Emil would mark them together at the clinic I knew I would not miss something or get lost in the moment. Another example is the side effect of fibrous lumps/bums from the subcision, - this happened a a few times for me, and made me panic a bit the first time, - but again research and good advice for your doctor helped a lot. Some nodules subsided on their own, one got a diluted injecting of kenalog, which helped. One is still persistent, as I mentioned earlier - but I learned that silicone sheets could improve it, so I tried that, and It did some good for me. - My point is: Your doctor knows a lot, but combining that with being a bit proactive yourself, is what has been great for me - learning for yourself, discussing it with your doctor, and together coming up with the best plan for you treatments is my advice :)

I've not posted any pictures with this, as I feel a bit uncomfortable doing so in Forums online. However if my message get's some attention, and people want it, I could do so, but for now it is just the message :)

This message was so long - but I've got so much I didn't cover, so please, please feel free to ask me questions about my experience, with different treatments, doctors etc. This is such a painful thing, and is why I would like to share my journey and in that way help anyone if I can :)

Best Wishes
