Is Juvederm vycross filler safe?

Is it pointless since it biodegrades after 12 months?

I might combine vycross with subcision, but what is the point if the filler biodegrades? Won't the scar re-appear?

It is safe. Studies have shown scar improvement for up to and beyond 5 years. Fillers act by stimulation of elastin and collagen, as well as acting as a spacer when subcision is done. It only last 1-2 years if there is absolute atrophic volume loss. In this situation you have only 3 viable options 1. Dermal grafting (outdated) 2. Fat Grafts 3. Fillers. Pros and cons can be discussed with your specialist pertaining to YOUR scar type. Vycross is the name coined by Juvederm for cross linked HA Fillers. The US has just got Volbella approved (I think it was last year?), however countries such as Australia have had this particular Vycross product for nearly 5 years. Studies by Lim and Goodman have shown a long safety record. Vycross technology are in other filler families in the US for many years.

What Obi Wan said is completely right. To add to it in simpler terms ... you have tethered scars, you need a spacer to prevent this re-tethering so the body can replace it with your own tissues. If you do not do this it will simply re-tether (many have this happen). It's not the length of filler longevity which is considered here it's the usage of the filler. Why does one use stitches to heal, ... because your helping the body mend properly.

Yes age and fat loss can require filler being needed for life by some, but this is not the case in all but the most severe acne scarring. Some get it yearly, others with mild scarring do not need yearly filler. IT's all how you heal. As you age it will become a bigger concern fat loss and bone loss (naturally happens, thus filler is needed to maintain a youthful look,...... fat hides scars).

Is one subcision treatment plus filler enough?

How can I have multiple subcision treatments - won't the filler leak out?

@fuji99You must get multiple subcisions! Several equal the benefits not one.

No the filler won't leak out, your waiting till the natural filler dissolves in your body before the next subcision, you do not do it monthly, unless you wait for filler until you do it a time or two before and try the vacuum method. Many do it yearly to top up and save up like haircuts or coffee they do their upkeep. HA is a natural substance in the body.

Yes, vycross is the term that Allergan uses to describe the unique cross linking of high and low weight HA in their Voluma and Volbella fillers. It is what allows these fillers to restore volume in a natural looking way.
