Recommendations for scar treatment clinics in the UK?

Could anyone recommend a scar treatment clinic in the UK? Has anyone ever had their scars treated at a UK clinic and seen positive results? Whether that's subcision, filler, dermabrasion, microbrasion, dermarolling/dermapen, peels, etc. I live in the Midlands but will happily travel down to London if needed.

Whilst i don't have any reccomendations i do know one main one to avoid and that is SK:N clinic. I went to one in the midlands and they started off selling me microdermabrasion which in my honest opinion is one of the most useless treatments going. It didn't do anything for my skin other than make things worse and really aggrivate it. They will sell you one thing whilst trying to sell you something else once they see your ready to part with your money. My plan was microdermabrasion to get rid of clogged pores and then i was supposed to go down the dermapen route. I hoped this would solve my problems but after 3 microderm sessions and negative results they then tried to slip in isolaz before dermapen. I agreed but never returned. Im convinced they havn't got a clue what they are on about. They also claim they don't do any TCA peels yet they offer them on there website.

That's really disappointing - they're probably the closest clinic to me and I was hoping dermapen there could be an option. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience. Which clinic in the midlands did you visit?

I went to the one on Harborne road. You could just go for the free consultation. It's just my personal experience. I felt pushed into buying products and let down by getting no results with treatments. My advice would be to go to a few clinics/dermatologists and get several opinions before jumping in. I think you will then go with gut instinct. Unfortunatley im rather gullable! I can't comment on the dermapen treatments there as i never got that far. I had six appointments over a few months and ended up with a few scuff scars from the microdermabrasion and a rather itchy and red face. So i didn't go back for fear of things getting even worse.

I agree with Noa Dr. Chu is in London and is liked by those in the UK who post here. He does subcision and peels and a few other things. . We have another Dr in the UK, ... if you want to checkout the acne scar faq (top of the sub)., forget his name he is more into energy devices.

I would suggest a medium depth peel of TCA at a med spa by you or at a Dr if your considering dermabrasion and micro derm. It's much more effective.

I keep hearing about this Dr Chu so I've gone and booked a consultation with the West London Dermatology Centre where he's based. I'll be seeing his associate Dr Anil Budh-Raja for a free consultation, as a consultation with Dr Chu is 225 or thereabouts. Apparently if I want any treatments with Dr Chu I will have to pay the consultation fee, so I guess I'll just have to see what happens. If I decide to get any treatments done I'll definitely start a new thread and keep you all updated.

So on Friday I went to the West London Dermatology Clinic. I have to say, first impressions weren't good. Rather than a dedicated facility it just looked like any other beauty clinic, based on the top floor above a restaurant. The doctor was ok. Very professional. But he's not actually based in this clinic at all - he's based in a different clinic called Parkfield Medical in Birmingham. So it wasn't the specialised London clinic I was hoping for.

I've now decided to start a course of Roaccutane, so I will have to delayany scar treatments for at least a year now. However, I've still been looking around and wondered if anyone had any experience with the following clinics:
The London Scar Clinic at 152 Harley Street with Dr Al Naimi
The Centre for Advanced Facial Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery with Dr Julian De Silva

This is true, microdermabrasion (MDA) does nothing for acne scarring

Hi Jollyhohnson - is it because you still have active acne they are giving you roaccutane? Julian De Silva is a plastic surgeon - I would be more inclined to seek a doctor who has qualified as a dermatologist (Dr Al Naimi is, works for Sk:n too).I'm just trying to post my experience of dermapen, subcision andTCA N cross 7 weeks ago.

Yeah, I still have regular outbreaks unfortunately. I thought I was getting it under control, but then, no, more spots. I really don't want to take roaccutane, but I feel like I've exhausted the other options at this point. I haven't had clear skin since I was about 14!

Regarding Dr Julian De Silva - true, he's not a dermatologist. But he seems fairly experienced when it comes to CO2 laser, and uses it to treat scarring. Just a possible option - though probably VERY expensive.

I'm looking forward to reading about your experience.

I would suggest having your acne scars treated by a dermatologist as I wouldn't feel confident in the plastic surgeons ability to deal with complications as you where on accutane. And a heads up, laser is a expensive route, I have my second session next week and it costs me 800 for 3 lasers at the same time for just my cheek area and then a 200 follow up. I'm having 3 and then reassessing what I want to do after. When looking for my dermatologists I like to see that they still practice in the NHS and simply do private on the side, this often means they are more experienced and cautious in my opinion.

I think that's good advice Jacob. I actually started Roaccutane yesterday. Not an easy decision but it gives me over a year to save up for any scar treatments I might want later on. 800 is a lot, but if it helped as much as it claims to then it would totally be worth it! I would love to hear about how you found the laser treatment and what type of laser you had?

Hello there, I have noticed your journey has been tough. I would love to sharesomething I've seen work that's new to the UK but absolutely having incredible results. The best part is no danger or surgery needed. Would you like to learn more about it?

Um, I guess, but you're being very mysterious ...

So I contacted 152 Harley Street about scar treatments and I have to say their response was very professional. They have a dedicated scar clinic which offers a comprehensive treatment approach - including surgery like subcision and punch excision, laser treatments, micro-needling, peels, etc. I emailed them some photos (before I knew I was going to be starting Roaccutane) and they suggested a consultation withDr Al Naimi. A consultation is 250, which isn't cheap. When I replied to say I couldn't have any treatments until some time after my Roaccutane course theirresponse was very friendly and they encouraged me to let them know if I have any questions.
But I can't believe I'm going to have to wait over a year before I can do anything about my scars!!!I see them every day and they make me so self-conscious. I just want them gone.

Hi @Jollyhohnsonany news on the152 Harley Street? I was thinking of contacting them. Are they any good? I have acne scarring, I have been trying to get rid of them in the last 5 - 6 years with derma rolling, derma stamping, needling, creams, topics etc but it is extremely slow progress for me. So I am looking for a miracle really. I am so fed up and stuck, not sure what to try next.

Hi Scarman. Not yet, I will officially have been off Roaccutane for 6 months at the end of June, so I was thinking of getting back in contact with them then. I've done some browsing online and found some really good reviews on the doctor they recommended. He does all sorts of procedures, including subcision and fillers, which is what I'm thinking of going for. I'm still umming and arring over CO2 laser.

Have you been doing the dermarolling yourself? I think it does help, but it can't necessarily replace lost volume or lift scars if they're tethered.
