Hyperpigmentation/Erythmea - Identifying either one

Recommended Posts

I am trying to find out whether the acne marks I have are PIH (post inflamatory hyperpigmentation) or PIE (post inflamatory erythmea).
From what I've read, PIE is usually red in color and blanches (turns white due to a restriction in blood flow) out when the skin is pressed.
PIH on the other hand, does not and is usually brown to dark in color. This is where my question comes to light as most of my marks seem to be red
to dark red in color but don't seem to blanch out when I press them or use a clear surface (glass) to do so.
The reason I'm asking is because I've been wanting to reach for treatment for these type of scars and in order to follow up I need to identify what type of
marks I have.
V-Beam amongst other lasers for PIE
or chemical peels and hydroquinone for PIH.
or could it be a combination of both? if so, where should I start
Thank you so much in advance
