Please help me with my skin and Proactiv

Hi, I'm 17 now. I've been struggling with acne since i was 15 but I didn't really care about it at that time. I never eat junk food such as fast food and sweet stuff. All i eat is rice, noodles, meat, and i always eat a lot of vegetables and drink a lot of water. Then I realized the importance of clear and nice skin so I decided to buy Proactiv. It is the first product i put on my skin ever. I have used it for 9 days, twice a day and it didn't work as well as I expected. My skin started breaking out worse with red, painful pimples. It also started peeling off a lot. Should i keep using Proactiv a little bit more, or should I minimize the use to once a day, or should i stop? Please help me answer this question, thank you!
