I'm on my forth week using the exposed skin care line and my face is continuing to get worse. I'm wondering what are the best facial cleansers you have used ? Please share any and all ideas :)

I tried both the Gentle and Normal Cetaphil cleansers. I like them both, by the normal is my favorite! I use them twice a day!

Sorry, I should've been a little more clearer. I meant the cleanser that was designed for normal to oily skin. It's this one:

Sorry, I'm bad at describing things, lol!

Let us know which one you choose, I'd love to hear how your treatment goes!

Hey, I use a lush moisturizer! I couldn't find a gentle every day cleanser though... How often do you use Aquamarina?

Fellowyogi,

I've had acne for over 10 years. I've managed to stop/minimize breakouts and am dealing with scarring, which is a major pain in the butt. But along the way, I've spent thousands of dollars on just OTC products. I have used $5 to $50 cleansers. From my personal experience, the best cleanser is one that DOESN'T target acne. So, no BP, SA, and etc. I agree with Alex Jones Stephen J, in that you should use Cetaphil. I also use a physical exfoliator (Clarisonic Pro), but in all honesty it's not necessary and it's not what it's hyped up to be. If you can get a Clarisonic, get the one with two speeds (or a cheaper substitute - they're ALL THE SAME), else get 7 wash cloths, in which you rotate every day.

I can only speak from my own experiences, and it's sometimes a contrarian opinion vs. others. But hey, my face is getting better!

wafflesss

I second Aquamarina. I use it nightly. I rarely rave about stuff, because I've never used any single product that has "amazed" me...until this one!

I started using it when my skin was a lovely combination of irritated & congested with large pores. This cleanser has calmed my skin down so much and it doesn't make my skin red. It has also made my skin smoother and my pores appear smaller. My skin looks incredibly fresh, smooth and clean after using it. It has also helped fade my acne scars, because it has ingredients like Sea Salt and Aloe Vera. It has a lot of other great ingredients in it that are good for calming down inflammation & redness. I hope they don't discontinue it anytime soon!

i think I'm going to move onto the cetaphil cleansers.

i used to use johnsons top to toe which I liked. Recently I changed to johnsons baby wash being in China I couldn't find top to toe. I thought they would be similar but apparently not as my face is stinging like mad.If you change cleanser and then all of a sudden your face gets more red and starts stinging? Should you stop using it?

@essex11I have tried Cetaphil & I thought it was good for a basic, gentle cleanser. I preferred it over the CeraVe Cleanser. As for your second question, yes I would stop using that cleanser ASAP. No cleanser should cause stinging/irritation/redness - you are likely having a bad reaction to it.

Thank you! As for the cetaphil cleanser.... it doesn't lather up at all. How did you combat this? Did you put more on your hand?

Peter Thomas Roth Gentle Foaming Cleanser is amazing. It is truly gentle (and fragrance free and soap free) but still effectively cleanses. Never leaves any makeup behind. Never makes my skin feel dry. It's not the most economical cleanser or the easiest to find in stores, but it is, by far, the best I've ever used.

@essex11Yeah, cleansers like Cetaphil and CeraVe do not foam - they have more of a lotion texture. It feels weird at first when you are used to typical cleansers that foam up, but is just something you will get used to as you use it more! The reason they are like that is because they are really designed to be as gentle as possible so that they can be used by anyone, even those with the most sensitive or dry skin (Even a baby, according to Cetaphil!). Foaming cleansers can dry out/irritate the skin for certain people, so these are a nice alternative because they clean the skin while also leaving it with a "moisturized" feeling rather than a "squeaky clean" feeling.

Thank you again! Just one more question :). Usually with a cleanser I use two pumps worth. Or a medium size circle in my hand if there's no pump. Should I use the same or more it, I understand that more could be bad because then I'm putting too much product on my face....

Thank you everyone for your input! Also @essex11I've learned less is more , so it's not necessary to put a lot of cleanser on. And be gentle while rubbing it into your skin. That's just what I've learned from personal experience

@essex11No problem! With a cleanser it doesn't really matter how much you use since you'll be washing it all off anyway. 2 pumps is what I typically use.

That makes sense , but at the same time if you want the product to last you longer and not irritate the skin isnt it best to use less? Just a thought

The clarify line for acne is amazing and includes a cleanser.

I don't mean to offend anyone, but everything that's been listed here is chock-full of comedogenic ingredients. They would all break me out.
The best I've found is still the Clinique Mild Bar.
You can check all the ingredients yourself at: Cosdna.com

The CeraVe cleanser for dry skin (the gel one, not the foaming one) is the best cleanser I've found, and my skin breaks out with almost everything. Even Cetaphil broke me out because of the very, very tiny amount of SLS it had in it. I also used SpectoGel for a time, and that was very good as well.

@kelbell812 interested in your recommendation for Aqua Marina (Lush). I'm worried about initial breakouts etc. How did your skin react when you first started using it?

Thanks
