Hi guys, i've been on accutane almost 3 months. Im asian, 17 years old and weigh about 55kg (115 pounds i guess). I started out first month with 10mg a day and i've been on 20 mg a day since the beginning of month 2.
The first 2 months of accutane, i got break out but now its better btw. I don't know how to describe it clearly, this is my face right now(day 75) :IMAG0019.jpg
IMAG0018.jpg
There were many acnes on the long red mark on my left cheek, they're gone now but i dont know if the red mark would fade or not. Btw, my skin have dry since the second month and the dead(dry) skin can be picked out easily, my derm told me not to do that but when get my face washed, some of them fall out and leave redness as you can see(my english is not really good :) ). Can you guys give me advices, im afraid that those scars and red marks will never fade. Im sick of wearing mask everytime i go to school

I promise you they will! I had lots of scars all over my forehead from acne and they have definitely faded. You might have to wait until you finish taking the accutane as it dries your skin and scars need moisture to heal, but it is definitely worth waiting and not picking at them!

If you want to speed it up a bit you can try using a product like Bio Oil which is used to help with all kinds of scars not just acne

Yes I would say so as it is moisturising as opposed to harsh or drying, but check with the doctor if you're concerned

This is my face now:IMAG0031.jpgIMAG0030.jpgWhen i take very close look, i see there are many redmarks and parts of my skin that deeper than the skin surface. But when i look at it with a further distance, the skin surface is pretty smooth, its just red. I dont know if they are just redness or they would become pockmarks when redness fade. Can you please give me an advice :)

the redness will definitely fade, the pockmarks its less certain but as you say from a distance they are much less noticeable, particularly when your skin is less red
I have had scars that were bumpy and have faded into smooth now, but ive also had a few that will remain. The important thing is to concentrate on the progress you are making and make sure you follow the advice of your doctor and others - you can't predict what's going to happen, so i wouldnt get upset over issues that may not! there is definite improvement showing in your pictures!

No replies 🙁
Yesterday, i ate a lot of shrimp, i'm not sure but i think that's why my face get worse: redmarks get much more red; skin gets more oily.
It's not easy to get advice from a dermatologist in my country(vietnam) because it take a lot of money and my family is not that rich 🙁 but i can keep using accutane :P

By its own it could be more than a year.. With some topicals for the red acne scars maybe 6 months. I have the same problem on a lower scale. My derm told me that she will put radio frequency on my face and it will help a lot.

Hey! Keep us updated!
My acne was almost as bad as yours a few weeks ago. I've been on accutane for the past month and it's healing.
Your marks will definitely heal, stay consistent! :)

Amazing, your marks seem to be fading away if you compare it from the beginning. How many days has it been? and how much mg are you taking per day?

It's been almost 4 months(110days) and i take 20mg everyday (i want to get higher dose(i weigh about 55kg) but my derm told me 20mg was too enough)
I'm not sure but people say that it will heal faster after the course.

Wow!! Your progress is impressive! I bet you would have nice and smooth skin very soon!
well, i ain't that lucky.5 months has passed and i still get breakout with lots of red scar all arond both side of my face. Im starting to develop whiteheads and blackheads on my forehead which i never had before... Totally a mistake to start isotretinoin as it ruined my face.

That's very odd, majority of people who take accutane get about 80% or more of their acne gone within the 3rd-4th month.

I take these pics with flashlight
. Those red marks are deeper than the surface
especially at the areas that
circled by the red brush

I know that redmarks will fade in time but if you have a close look, there are many tiny holes on the red areas, will they(deep areas and tiny holes) fill themself over time???
