Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo - Does it work?

(I hope this is in the right section)

Anyway, as the title would suggest, I'm on ortho tri cyclen lo, aka birth control. I'm on my second pack, so my fifth week using it. My skin hasn't gotten any better, and honestly may be getting worse, as I'm getting acne in places I don't get it in (around mouth, jawline) so it's kind of worrying me. Also though I did get a few cysts here and there, the ones I'm getting now are out of control. Could this just be an initial breakout? I've heard that could happen, but mine's lasted for a month..is that long or normal?
I've heard ortho tri cyclen lo also doesn't do much, because it's the low dose, but should I wait it out? I've heard some people who use it get better after 3-4 months, but some don't get better at all. I'm really...really fed up with acne and just want it gone. Is this worth it? I don't wanna be wasting my time when I could be taking something else (though I don't wanna resort to accutane as I'm already prone to side effects as it is) I've had acne since I was 12 or 13. (it can't be quite genetic because my brother has completely clear skin)
Alright, so, maybe I've been rambling? I'll get to the punch. My questions are, how long maximum would this sort of med (otc lo) work? And what's the probability of it working? And is an initial breakout normal? (i've been roaming through these forums already but can't seem to find a straight answer to this)
Anyway, any help would be appreciated. 🙂

Whatever. I stopped at 2 months. Made my face increasingly worse, far worse than it's ever been. Plus it gave me awful, awful side effects. Not fit for me.
