Just had prp/dermapen/subscision/tca cross done. Look like a chipmunk!

Recommended Posts

@Izzy123 Actually looking back my swelling kept until the 4th day.  Don't worry though it will eventually abate. At least wait four days.

The crust and redness will keep until like after the 4-5th day! It is looking good! I had redness for a bit longer though, you can check out my posts (I had to go back and look hah)

Keep us posted!

Okay so now I'm done with the second treatment. I did not cry this time. I did not even say a word, not even when they forgot the numbing cream on some parts of my face where they used the derma pen. It wasn't that bad. Still think the injections for subcision is the worst. But, anyways, I was prepared this time. Getting really thick skin at this point haha - not literally.

So I look about the same this time, but I have some raised brushing on my forehead - super fun - even though no subcision was done there. I think a prp injection might have caught a nerve or something. Hardness, sore and stuff all over cheeks. Red. Bloody etc. Super fun. Haha.

The hardest thing with this stuff is definitely the fact that your face is so different, chipmunk-y, that you get a bit depressed by it. But anyways, it is only for a couple of days!

I will try to suction this time - with my hover and using my hand as a buffer. My doc told me he doesn't think it will work but that it wouldn't be really harmful although he said there was a greater risk for lumps by doing this. I will anyways, because going back and doing this more times will be more time-consuming than having a bit more brushing - if it works that is.

Oh he injected the reminder of those lumps with something too, so we'll see if it will do anything. This time I am taking arnica pills every two hours I hope I hope not too many lumps will form! Those are just soo annoying!

Probably won't update with pics until I see some changes. And, since I know now that real changes takes 3+ weeks maybe I'll wait a bit.

So the doctor only uses a topical numbing gel and not the numbing injections?

Thanks for the update and continued good healing.  You are a beautiful girl no matter what, you have that going for you so don't get to down on yourself.  I know how hard it is dealing with the acne and even more so the scarring.  I had a complete meltdown two days ago and almost threw all of my makeup away trying to cover my acne, rosacea and scars.  You are young and will heal well and reading Mr Matt's thread if you continue to be on top of all of these treatments you will have beautiful skin, you;re a tough cookie ;)
Thanks again for all of your posts and for updating everyone.   I am looking into subcision or micro needling in my area.  I did Fraxel about 10 years ago and I did see some improvement but now being 47 with skin sagging and loss of firmness I can really see all of my scars :(
I hope you do post photos in the next weeks so people can visually see your progress but if it's to much for you I TOTALLY understand.  Take care,

JJP

Thanks for making this thread. On the other hand it has made me realise I don't think this kinda treatment is for me, I think I will have to live with what I have.

You guys might remember I posted pictures after my first (and last) INFINI treatment. It has now been 3 weeks and I am suffering from hyperpigmentation that is not improving overtime... I still see the grid from the device where I was treated. Worse decision ever.... :-(

Maybe give it more time to heal, have you called the doctor and asked what they think you should do?

He did use injections too, they are pretty painful.

Sorry I haven`t updated in awhile. I suctioned pretty hard and I`m not sure if it did some damage I can see some scars that wasn`t there before. But it is really hard to know for sure since some can level out after a bit. I hope that this is the case. I suctioned with my vaccum using a folded towel as a buffer. Sometimes I did higher pressure sometimes not. They are all pretty much back now after 10 days so I guess I hope it did something. The doc did forget scars that I wanted subcision on. I feel like he is more interested in the dermapen than the subcision for he does it for like 2-3 min tops while he is very precise with the dermapen. He even uses it on completely nice/healthy skin.

I did not bruise very much although if I tilt my head I can see a bit blue/ish-ness. I do wonder if he did the subcision all that well.

The lumps - that he injected - did not go. I did not get any new ones but the ones from last procedure did not budge. One did depress slightly where he injected it I suppose which was not wanted. I wonder if there are other methods to deal with these because there is risks involved with steroid injections that I really don`t want to take.

I started taking pictures after day 9 - I`ll upload at some point they aren`t that good, and it is just basically back to square one. Some TCA cross spots are still bright red which is kind of annoying.

Yes I know. Super depressing post. Meh! Maybe it`ll get better!

Thank you @jjp007 for your kind words! I don`t really know anymore if anyone knows how to deal with scars. I`m thinking of individually needling instead, like one scar at a time. This way you won`t take such huge risks. Plus a lot of people have got pretty good results from it. It is just not that well documented.

You should definitely consider subcisoning (is this a word?) for EVERY scar and not just the ones that your doctor want to do it on. And, then do the needling yourself. No need to pay such money for it. I really hope you find a derm that is good and willing to try this out. It can do wonders, I really believe so. But, the doc has to be willing to work alongside your requests which not many are.

Jjp007 I see you`ve done quite many fraxels? How did you find those?

Does anyone know a good doc in UK that does subcision? Besides Dr. Chu? Please message me if you do!!

yes @Polka I know it is pretty terrifying. I`ve had pretty bad experience with those lumps as well. Remember though that there is no way to know until a couple of months the real results. It might pan out eventually. But I`m also getting to the point where I just want to say fuck it, and just accept myself. Scars and all because I can`t bother with the pain of all this.

@Izzy123 I think this happened to someone else... Have you find that post? I can look around for you otherwise. Search fo infini. Although, my experience is that we first panic with these things they do turn out okay in the end. It takes your skin at least 4-6 weeks to create new skin, so it might just be that you haven`t waited long enough. I got new scarring and stuff last time this happened too and it got better. Please think positive because it usually works out in the end.

Thanks for your encouragement @Jjp007 @il90 ... I'm trying to be patient as much as possible. It's hard to believe it will get better when it looks this bad today.
It's now been 4 weeks. The scars are worse than before. On the plus side, the hyperpigmentation has gone down.
I haven't seen the thread on INFINI but will definitly take a better look

I can't believe the needle marks are still there. But who knows. I swear I heard someone say that this exact same thing happened. Pretty sure they will go though but it must be annoying for you that it is taking so long. My scars always look bad a couple of weeks after treatment if that helps at all. Then 2+ months they start looking better. You have nice skin though, just a few marks around your chin there.

Please keep us updated. What has your doctor said about this? Did you ask if this was common at all?

@il90, I can't wait to be 2 months from now and have my results prove you right!!!
I am getting an appointment every 2 weeks now to do a light microderm to help with the discoloration. It helped when I had pigmentation from acne.
The dermatologist (who did not perform the procedure, the technician did) said that the procedure was done too quickly and the laser was released at the surface of the skin vs. deep. I send them pictures every 3 days and all she says now is that the depression created by this procedure will go away in 3 to 6months!!!!!!!!! Seriously ....I'm getting married in 7.... that's a long time to wait just to get my skin back to pre-procedure...
So basically they didn't do the procedure right..

They just admitted to doing it wrong.... Tell them that you want your money back and any procedure to correct discoloration etc should be covered by them as well. I understand how pissed you are... I walked around with subcision lumps for like 4 months and they are still not gone. Tbh, there are risks involved with all of this regardless if they do it right or not. This is why living with it might be easier because these procedures are pretty scary. Have you thought about just individually needling the scars every 6-8 weeks yourself ? That way you can do one at a time. Also, it would probably be good to leave the parts of your skin that does not have scarring alone. No need to risk that skin too you know.

I'm positive that it will eventually turn out okay but I really understand your frustration. And, you still have 7 months so by then it will be gone.

Hi @il90 I am not comfortable asking for my money back yet... I know... I feel like for as long as they try to fix this for me I won't ask.
She is offering Picosure for speeding up the healing. I had this done before and had a temporary result. More due to  a temporary tightening..
I don't know what you are talking  about when you say " Have you thought about just individually needling the scars every 6-8 weeks yourself" what is this? Does it involve a special item?
I have seen pictures of microneedling. Is it the same thing...

Thanks for your encouragement!!! I  feels good not to  be alone in this...

il90, did you notice that the arnica pills made a difference in reduction of nodules? I recently got subcision done and have a huuuge nodule. Like seriously the size of a quarter and bulging on my cheek. I am debating either applying arnica cream to it or taking pills, and also going to ice it a lot. It's such a pain in the ass.

I did another treatment. Restylane Vital + Juvaderm hydrate + subcision. Will post some pictures if it works. But this is the last time. I will go back twice more for more Vital and perhaps one more subcision in July and in August. But after that this is it.

With Vital you need to refill every 6 months about 250 pounds, but oh well.

Let you know how it goes. Dr. Chu unfortunately did not do much for me, max 20-30% improvement after two treatments not sure if I will go back. With this new lady I heard a lot of snapping which I never did with Chu so I'm not sure if he even did subcision like he said?

Also lady did subcision for free although she didn't call it that, she just said she wanted to remove the threads holding the scars down and if she could cut them and infuse juvaderm hydrate under there? She did that for free too. Said she really wanted me to be happy with my results. I said sure go ahead.

Look like chipmunk again, but otherwise healed in 3 days faster than ever before might be the hyaluronic acid from Vital.

Thanks for updating us! 20%-30% sounds good, although I know you found the whole treatment quite traumatic so i'm not sure if it felt worth it for you.

Do you mind sharing who you are now getting treatment with?

Hi Iil90

When Dr Chu performed your treatment, how long did he wait between needling and tca cross?  Edited by Taurus_girl

Hi there!I am really sorry you had such a result for a month after the procedure.I hope everything is ok for you now after a whole year, congratulations on your marriage too,I wish you a very happy life together!
I wanted to ask you,has your skin improved(in comparison to prior the infini RF)?
I had this infini RF too,one month ago,to treat acne scars(I always had acne and scars only on the T zone and none on my cheeks, but nevertheless the doctor(plastic surgeon) applied it on the whole of my face.I was red for 2-3 days and for more than 10 days I was like someone hit me all over my face. Now,one month after,my skin looks really rough, dull, dehydrated, perhaps still a little swollen, and I can say some the scars on the forehead look even worse.I also have bad hyper-pigmentation and I m worried about how long it can last.
This certainly isn t as easy  as the doctors describe it(2-3 days redness!!),so anyone thinking about it,take it seriously and see some good results on others first.

@marycraft I have had Infini many times. The doctors lie about the down time. I have heard of people having down time of 2 weeks to 3 months. Dr. Weiner the head spokesman for the Infini you can see him on realself.com reviews of the treatment... Use Retin A cream he says and a skin bleaching hydroquinone combo to speed up healing. Collagen does take time to rebuild, it gets worse before better. Please use pure HA serum for the dryness and a cream if you can stand it. Some use triple antibiotic cream or honey and aloe. Vitamin C serum helps with hyperpigmentation as well. The dermis will rebuild over 3 months. Take a anti inflammatory like Motrin and or Benadryl

Chekout realself.com for more infini reviews. They are mainly negative because of the down time lies, but people do get back to normal a few months latter. It's the same action as laser skin desiccation or death and replacement.

@BA, Having had Infini, what is your overall opinion on it?  All hype / useless?  Did it make things worse?  Or has it helped at all?  So many doctors are pushing this like they did with laser 5-10 years ago, and yet I have not seen any convincing photographic evidence (like how laser has not really clear cut cases of success.).

Posts like this on Realself.com are concerning.

https://www.realself.com/question/san-antonio-tx-infini-damage-permanent

Update:  This lady said that the raised lines did resolve overtime.  Still the recovery looks ugly, and I'm not sure the tradeoff is worth it for the kinds of prices charged.

Real Self posts reviews of people who have bad experiences (complaints), you don't go on there and say I found the fountain of youth. It's slanted. Just like Amazon keep this in mind. Also it has doctors who got their patients to leave good reviews, people who are mentally unwell (BDD - Can you say Human Barbie).  Doctors can pay companies just like Amazon to Market with photoshopped photos and flashy websites. Sometimes good doctors can't be bothered to play the "game." We had a poster recently who said the practitioners website / pictures didn't look impressive. I had recommended the doctor who did not use these services. So like anything we buy with our eyes and not with research.
