Red Marks At University!

I have made posts on this before but now I am really panicking/depressed! I have lots of red marks which are COMPLETELY smooth on my cheeks. I have had them for about 6-8 weeks and they have faded a bit about 25% but they are still SO visible. I am at uni where I need to make friends and confidence is key but I don't have any/not much because I have horrible red marks. It's annoying because usually I like going out and socialising. I am just wondering how long will these take to fade because they have faded about 25% in 1-2 months. I am just wondering if there is anything I can use to help fade these marks, I am already exfoliating and using topical vitamin C!?

P.S I have finished my course of roaccutane/accutane and haven't had a spot in months so future spots SHOULD NOT be a problem.

I kind of expected that to be honest. It's just depressing that I'm meant to be having a really good time but I can't because I am so low. It kind of seems like no one wants to be friends with me because of my bright red marks especially girls who don't even look at me when before I used to get many looks from girls:( My confidence is so low atm :(

Lol trust me bro, your face doesn't mean anything if its just red marks. I still have a great time in college. Just be confident and don't be insecure about it.

Im having a fucking awesome time in college, even in classes. The girls don't mind the marks either :P Heres some pics of my face to let you feel better:

I understand how your marks can effect you but mine are much worst. I don't mean to sound like a d**k but I used to get a lot of girl attention before these marks and now I get 0!! I was in a club yesterday and this girl even gave me a look where she actually looked disguisted by my looks. I don't know what to do I feel so depressed whereas I'm normally quite confident and outgoing :( 🙁

I feel you man. I don't think they're as bad as you think though, everyone is their own worst critic. Got any pics?

The first photo is from 2 months during the day! The second photo is from just now (2am) so it wasn't from during the day and has poor lighting (I'm sorry). The same for the 3rd and 4th picture.

In this lighting my skin doesn't look that bad but during the day and in bright lights at night my skin is horrible!

I've seen kids with bulging cysts on their face still getting girls, no joke. Trust me dude no one even cares about that shit unless you're being all insecure about it, looking down/depressed or whatever.

Btw the marks don't look too bad. In about 4 months they'll look like mine though, not completely faded. Really depends on how fast your skin heals.

No problem. Just remember the #1 thing at this point is to prevent future breakouts + use sunscreen so the marks dont get redder. If you got any questions feel free to message me bud. :)

You guys don't even have that bad of skin. When I was in college I had huge cysts and infections on my face. I was probably the worst looking person at my entire university. I need plastic surgery today because of how damaged my skin is.

With that said, I still managed to make friends in college. Try not to worry too much about it.

Got any pics lucas?

I find the more you show your bothered about your face, by looking depressed, head down all the time, you then tend to make it stand out more, meaning you will no doubt not make any friends.. just act confident, keep your head up and be as out going as you can be, people won't judge you about your face, they will judge you for your personality.

Honestly though, I don't want to get your hopes up giving you false information, but I think you will need around a year to get rid of all 90% of the redness, it really does take time, and that's providing you don't get any more spots within that time.

Start of using a good exfoliation cream, if you are from the UK look into the Boots No.7 Dermabrasion scrub, it's around 12 but it's brilliant! Secondly get yourself a Vitamin C serum. A homemade one would be more reliable and will only set you back around 12 every 6 months!. If you search my topics you will find a topic I made on how to make the serum.

Get yourself a good diet, plenty of Vitamin C and moisturise twice a day, don't forgot to use SUNBLOCK 30++.

If you not bothered about doing this natural, you could try some peels, or last of all look into laser treatment (free on the NHS).

Yeah I have been using Clearsil Ultra blemishes+marks exfoliator and vitamin C serum. I haven't got a moisturiser yet, does E45 cream count?? And my dermalogist said that the NHS don't do acne/acne scarring treatments such as laser.

Yeah, E45 is a moisturiser, but maybe try one more that is beneficial for healing and reducing redness. Palmers Cocoa Butter is a nice one.

Your derm is wrong, and is being ignorant towards you. Scar treatment CAN be done on the NHS, I have Fraxel Repair next Thursday for my acne scars under the NHS free.

The general rule is, they will not pamper you with cosmetic, but if your depressed, and its causing problems, then it's a doctors problem isn't it? We have it good here in the UK, so book in at the doctors and tell them how much you have been depressed, how it is effecting your lifestyle and confidence, if your unemployed tell them how it is effecting you getting a job etc.

Also, different hospitals say it's free, others say it's not. It may be worth being transferred to another hospital.

Where are you from, I may be able to recommend one, as I know 2 that will treat you for free by plastic surgeons.

I'm from London but currently living in Bristol for uni but I can easily travel back to London.

Also I heard that laser can lead to scarring. I just really have red marks on my cheeks with one indent and rolling scars on my forehead.

Just get vbeam or IPL. Consider it if your red marks are really affecting your well-being. Topicals take forever to work and they don't even give good results. I've been getting IPL and it has faded my red marks to 80%. I need two more treatments to fade them completely.

So, a little bit off topic but I have realised that I may have some scarring. In most lights you can't see anything but when you look in bright lights at certain angles I see extremely SMALL depressions. They are so small!! And can only be seen in extremely bright lights at certain angles! So I'm wondering is this what comes with red marks and they eventually go with the red marks or are these scars?? I have ran my hand over my face and feel NOTHING at at all so I'm really stressing can these somehow be scars?!

I got those too. They're superficial scars and will even out with time, just like the red marks.

Same. I'm on my third semester at uni and suddenly horrible breakouts leave horrible red post acne marks. It's been 2 months and it wont go away. I'm thinking about doing vbeam laser but damn, the reveiws are kinda scary with bruising.

There's no bruising associated with the new version of Vbeam, Vbeam Perfecta.
