Cause Of Cystic Acne

I have acne problems since I was 13 and now I am almost 18 and it looks like it has worsened over the years.I used to have these little pus filled bumps on my face even a year ago. Those seemed like a big problem to me when I saw people with clear face. But now I have cystic acne (they come to head) every now and then.

So my question is what can be the possible reason for this transition.Could it be that I had a habit of picking and popping pimples?

Any advice on how to prevent them because they are leaving some scars now?

PS-I am on a 2 month dose of doxycycline,taking 50 mg a day.

It's human nature to want to figure out what we did to cause something bad to happen, but the truth is, we didn't cause our acne. Something we did might have exacerbated it, but we are not causing or own condition.

Have you tried the regimen?

Really? Have you looked at the store brand equivalents?

You have to stop touching your face entirely. I cannot say that enough. I too live abroad, and recently went to NYC. I made an appointment at the Mario Badescu salon because I needed someone to tell me why i was breaking out so much (breaking out for 4-5 months, only getting worse and worse and no reason why---I eat very well (obsessively well), exercise 5-6 days a week and my hormones were tested as normal.) The facialist told me "you have done this to yourself by touching and popping and squeezing". She even pointed out specific areas and said, this was entirely my own creation---further worsened by applying drying products to very sensitive and angry skin, further causing breakouts.

They put me on a very simple 3 step regime with the strict instructions to never touch my skin. She said "if you dont touch, you will have new skin in 2 months". Less than one week later I already have new skin. No new pimples and the clogged pores are clearing completely. For too many years I have fooled myself into thinking I could just pop this one and it would go away faster, but the result was colonies of congestion under the skin as the bacteria spreads internally, an effect we cannot see in the mirror.

How did your pores clear if you weren't squeezing it out? I'm struggling with this right now! I leave my face alone for a few days and it gets rough and congested looking.

I know things get better after a while if you stop popping, though it's kinda gross seeing your face filled with pus leaking zits.So now I am trying to not pop anything. But still somehow they get popped by themselves when I wash my face(I am always gentle washing my face).

Just hoping for the best to happen!

Cheers
