PRE AUGUST 3RD

Spoiler

Arrival/Prep

Spoiler

Walked in, signed in and sat down & waited to be call up. You know, the usual. After a few moments I was called in and had my picture taken and had her send them to my my email. I then was instructed to have a seat. The nurse then lathered topical anesthesia all over my face and had me wait for the doctor to come in. I got kind of worried and anxious b/c I did not want the scars to plump up therefore not being able to mark all the scars with a pen. None the less it turned out as expected. The Dr. walked in and then the journey officially began.

Important things to note/comments (May 11th):

Spoiler
  • I would say my scarring has improved a good 70%+
  •
  • My temples showed the most improvement
  •
  • Some scars never resurfaced, those that did look 10x better ^
  •
  • I can look at my face in the harsh lighting inside my bathroom
  •
  • 3 or so nodules remain

He has a special technique on how he approaches subcision; he not only undermines the superficial layer of the dermis but the deeper layers as well, continuously switching from the smaller to large gauge needles and so forth on each area. *SORRY I FORGOT TO ASK IF I COULD HAVE MY MOM RECORD A BIT PART OF THE PROCEDURE.* He told me most doctors don't do this. He spent around 40 minutes with me always keeping a conversation going. Prior to the procedure he had me hold a mirror and point out the scars that I thought that he missed while he marked the the rest. That gave it away, this man is truly amazing, sympathetic and takes pride in what he does. Very charismatic. He not only missed close to none but marked a few that I didn't know I had |. While undermining, a new convo. sparked up, he went ahead and told that it bothered him that most practices don't offer subcision or bother with it at all. I thought that was interesting. Anyways The nurse was also great, quiet and friendly but always by his side and attentive. He was also very supportive of the suctioning method. I asked my doctor if I should wait to needle with the Derminator after the subcision or or the next day. He recommended me to do it that night to take advantage of the local anesthesia. I am glad I did. PHEW (see below) I walked out looking like I was just jumped in into a gang.

Day 1 After Subcision

Face hurts considerably and I am very much still swollen but it's totally tolerable. I decided not to take pain relief pills nor ice my face. "The more bruising & inflammation the better" - Dr. I was considering starting suction today but it would hurt too much, looks like I will have to post pone it for a day or 2. Meh The protocol calls for suctioning 3 days after procedure, anyways!

I wish you luck!

I guess it goes without saying that you'd recommend this Dr. to others? It's so nice to hear how good your experience was with him.

Day 2 A.S.

Woke up looking like a chipmunk and just this afternoon my eyes started swell and bruise. The bruising is slowly creeping up around eyes. Funny and all but my face still happens hurt to the touch | . Anyways, some way or another I will be start to suction tonight before I take a shower.

"start of suction on third day after subcision for flat and depressing subcised scars and its continuation at least every other day for 2weeks."

**I will be suctioning every day**

"high grade of improvement was mostly in patients in group A1 who had almost daily suctioning in the first week of suctioning period"

There were 2 groups, A2 patients where instructed to suction every other day where as A1 patients where told to suction every day during the first week. As previously stated I will be doing the latter, but also suctioning daily the following week

"On the first days, we used less negative pressure; but in the subsequent sessions, depending on the condition of scars, we could increase negative pressure (even to maximum: ˆ’70 mmHg), length of time (not more than 4 s in each pass) and the number of suctioning passes (even 8“12 passes) per session."

Subcision Day 2 A.S/ Suction Day 1 - 9PM - Post suctioning pics: http://imgur.com/mDHBKIb,7ahSjYF,35Qdag3,f2txXjA,oWqeHL6#4 (toggle first to fifth image)

5 Passes 4-5 seconds each. I followed of just dragging the suction cup down and holding for 4-5 seconds rather then pumping each scar one by one. Worked great as you can see, plus it's quicker and convenient!

I don't see any actually. But then again It's probably too early to tell anyways because of the swelling. I do know he made several insertion points.

Day 3 A.S/Suction Day 2 - Woke up to find more bruising and yellow spots all over face, face was even more swollen and I now look like I haven't slept for around a month, sweet! fortunately everything looks like it is coming along pretty well. Anyways, this day I I did 2 suctioning sessions one @ 2pm which consisted of 5 passes 4-8 seconds each, alternating suction technique between dragging and one by one suctioning and the other @ 9PM which consisted of almost double the passes as earlier, I performed 8 4-5 passes also alternating. The latter started to hurt incredibly after around the 4th pass I manned up and continue. Oh I don't think have I have mentioned this but I apply generous joboba oil all over my face to aid/ assist the suction device.

Subcision Day 4/Suction Day 3 (March 29) - Woke up with more bruising and yellow around treated areas. Started first suctioning session @ 11 AM - Performed 2 passes 4-8 seconds each this time one by one. Will perform the 2nd @ 9PM.

9PM - 8 passes 4-5 seconds each

I want to emphasize that I am suctioning vigorously this first week because that's when the most re-tethering of the scars occur. I will eventually Mr. follow Matt's advice of just 2 passes 2-3 times a day, but not till next 2nd week of suctioning

Hi Robertitoo,

What country are you based? also, how much is the treatment in total?

Your right temple is pretty much the exact same as my left temple.......It's just my right temple that is REALLY severe.

I really hope this works for you mate, and if it does wonders I will look to get the same treatment some how.

I really appreciate you documenting this! This is a very similar route I'm thinking of going to treat scarring(mainly subscision+dermarolling, maybe also retinoids, peels). It's nice to see the "not so pretty" pictures, to know that it's "normal" haha. Good luck, can't wait to see more updates! :)

Yeah. No probs. I plan on alternating TCA 15% peels and needling every 2 weeks. As well as throwing in some @ home microdermabrasion treatments and 15% salicylic acid peels here and there.

Quick update -

95% of my scars APPEAR to be gone but it's only been a week and a half, and i'm totally aware the swelling can last up to 4 weeks. *keeping fingers crossed for best results* My last day of suction is this Friday, I will post pictures then. Also on Friday I will proceed to do a 15% TCA peel and start the microneedling/tca alternating process.

tbh - Sucks having to be cooped up in the house for the passed week and onto this week, I honestly can't wait to break free. I will return to my normal activities on Monday |::)

2 Weeks After Subcision, 2 days before last Suction sessions - Quick Update - 95% of scars still appear to be gone, I think suctioning is prolonging the swelling but that's essentially what i want. I will post pictures on Friday before my TCA peel.

16 Days Post Subcision/2.0mm Microneedling - 14 Days Post Dedicated Suctioning followed by a 15% TCA Peel: http://imgur.com/a/Gnf9L/all

The TCA I used: here

How often did I suction? I basically broke the day into 3 parts or 3 periods.. I performed 2-4 @ passes @ 9-10AM so morning, 2-4 @ 3-4PM evening & 4-6 @ 8-10PM night, I did this for 14 straight days!! Each sessions lasted somewhere between 20-45 minutes.

I am aware my face is still swollen from the actual procedure as well as the constant suctioning, so I wont post 'final result' pictures for another 2-4 weeks, possibly until my next microneedling sessions.

**KEEPING FINGERS CROSSED FOR BEST RESULTS**

I also broke out a whole bunch around my jawline during the passed 2 weeks. Fortunately they have been healing just fine and marks are not being left left. Jawline post inflammatory hyper pigmentation tends to go away fairly quickly for me.

I will start microneedling 28 days from now, but I will however continue to do chemical peels every couple of weeks in the meantime till I get to microneedling. I will also get one last Vbeam Perfecta done 15-30 days after microneedling in junction with the alternating process.

Next subcision will be done towards the end of the year, around December break most likely..unless I can fit in another 2 1/2 week break from school/work during the fall semester but I honestly doubt it..( I start school this Fall)

If you have any questions feel free to ask. ;D

3 weeks after Subcision Update - 90-95% of scars still appear to be gone. My temple scarring as well most if not all of my cheek scarring is basically non existent except for a few that were in odd places to be able to perform suction correctly, but the improvement is phenomenal at this point. Lots of places on my face feel somewhat hard to the touch, NON nodule like and they are not visible at all. I am assuming that is scar tissue taking place. Sorta seems like a layer of scar tissue or new tissue was laid down over the pits I'll give it one or two more weeks to report final results, no not really, 'According to patients and investigators, subcision plus suction showed 81% and 65% improvement after 3 month, respectively' & 'Assessment and grouping. Two investigators and the patients rated improvement of scars using percentage after completion of treatment in two stages: 2 and 6 months'

O_O;D

Wow, great thread. I have the same type of scarring as you in the exact same locations (cheek and temple). I hope to get subcision once 6 months past after my course of Accutane.
