I was wondering what the best vitamins for skin health are. I have light acne and I want to start clearing it up from the inside out. I'm not interested in a vitamin to rub on my face or anything I just want one to take as a pill.

So what's the best kind? Have you had any success taking vitamins?

Thanks for your help :)

Vitamin A, D, and Zinc are known to be really good.

But the Vitamin A that is beneficial isn't the one from carrots and veggies, but from certain meats (liver especially).

D is sunlight. If you stay in the sun for more than 15 minutes a day, you don't need to supplement this.

Zinc might be helpful if you don't eat much dark meats and certain nuts.

Vitamin K2 might be worth it too to prevent toxicity from Vitamin D and A. It's an unlikely problem if you stick to the recommended dosages of A and D, but I always like to be on the safe side.

I'm about to start supplementing Vitamin A with Fermented Cod Liver Oil, Vitamin D if I don't get enough sun, and start supplementing Zinc. And the K2 to be safe.

Checkout these articles for much more detailed information:

I also heard Vitamin C and E help too, but those are pretty easy to get from your everyday foods. I'm not 100% positive, but I think you can get C pretty easily from apples and oranges and get E from veggies and olive oil.

Thanks so much for your reply it was very informational :) I will look for zinc next time I'm at the store. I went to that website and read through the signs of a zinc deficiency and it described me to a T! It is definitely something I want to look into. Is it unsafe for me to take zinc and vitamin E? Sorry if that sounds dumb I am really not knowledgable on the subject of vitamins.

Make sure get zinc picolinate like the article said. Dont just buy some random Zinc.

They prefer this one:

I'm not sure about taking Zinc and Vitamin E being unsafe. It doesn't sound unsafe to me. I'm not sure if there is any correlation between Zinc and Vitamin E. Unless you take a whole lot of one and not the other, that's usually when toxicity occurs. So you should be fine.

With Zinc, I think one of the unsafe things is getting Zinc and not enough Copper. So that supplement I linked you, is a good choice since you will get your Zinc and plus some Copper to keep your mineral balance.

Also, very important! Make sure you only take Zinc with your meals. It is one of the supplments that can make you feel really sick if you take it on an empty stomach.

I'm looking forward to taking Zinc and seeing the results as well. I have the white spots on my fingernails, hanging nails, dry skin on my cheeks, and of course the acne.

I will look for that and if I can't find it I will just order it online. I was also considering eliminating some foods from my diet but I'm not sure which ones. Any recommendations?? Thanks :)

Dairy and milk, peanut butter, protein shakes are some that may cause acne. Sugars (think added sugar) and gluten leads to acne for some people as well.

I completely agree with everything this person said. I followed almost everything that site suggested that it has changed my life for the better. It was this site that made me realize that diet and vitamin deficiency DOES CAUSE ACNE.
