So I am starting my accutane log today..I am a 27 yr. old male...my acne was far worse from 16 yrs old- 20. I have severe cystic acne, which is not out of control anymore on my face, but i still get it on my back, chest, and behind head. I am on day 11 of absorica/40 mg. I can tell it is starting to work on my skin already, but i do not like the side effects. Already i am sore in the ribs area as if i had been doing abdomen exercises like sit ups. I am more tired than usual and my eyes are far drier than they usually are. Today i woke up with headache and crusty eyes, i felt like crap and was already questioning this accutane treatment,,, it has been extremely windy over here in southern calif. and i feel better now that i had been awake for a few hours and realized allergies were setting in on top of the dryness caused by tane. All else is good so far and i can use all the suggestions i can get.

i am using dove sensitive skin bar soap, cetaphil body lotion, cetaphil moisturizing cream, aquaphor, and eucerin face moisturizer spf 30. I also got some eye wash and had already been using artificial tears for my dry eyes. Here are some photos for the start of my journey and looking forward to miraculous results at the end of 6 months. post-447529-0-92213600-1422220327.jpg chest post-447529-0-23478700-1422220348.jpg upper back

so sunday night my allergies got so bad i had to go to dr....i thought the accutane was adding to the severity of my symptoms but nope.

All is good now, i got some eye drops and zyrtec and my allergies are under control. I am still on the accutane, day 14 and i feel much better. Not as sore, not as tired, and im drying out well. I constantly apply the cetaphil moisture cream and interchange between aquaphor and carmex on my lips. No crazy IB but i can tell the tane is doing its job. A few whiteheads came and gone on my face and dryness in those areas but no cysts developing. The best advice ive read so far is to not think about it too much. Take your pills, hydrate, moisturize, and be patient through the first signs of side effects.

That's right! Even if it's hard, we must not think about it all the time and just let things go!

i needed to post some pics to compare my results with...ill probably take pics every 30 days unless i need to more frequent. my face actually doesn't break out so much anymore...when i was 16-18 i looked like an extra pepperoni pizza, but now my breakouts are mostly chest, back, and behind head. i get pimples on my face but not anything like before. i have mostly scars along my jawline left that bother my appearance, but acne does seem to get better with time but will never fully go away that is why im going for the accutane. i actually started tane when i was about 18 but i was partying so hard back then that i couldn't bear the effects and i was quite unhealthy. ive wished to be able to try the treatment again for years since and to my surprise and answered prayers i got referred to a derm from my physician and found out that medi-cal would cover the whole thing!!!! i am not paying one pennie out of pocket and my pharmacy papers says my absorica would be 881 a month otherwise! Prayers are finally being answered. Acne ruins everything and has to go.

Day 18

I have been getting pimples around my nose and chin areas but they do come to a white head quick and dry out. I do have one that started coming up yesterday as you can see in the pic right under my nose above my lip....im sure everyone knows that those zits in the corner of the nose hurt. i hate those ones on the lip too that make you look like you got punched in the mouth because they swell up so much...it is not too bad though and im trusting that it will dry out and disappear quick like the other little ones did.

side effects are good....my lower back is sore and i guess i got used to the pain in the abdomen area...i have been so busy but i do expect to get back in the gym for some light exercise and stretching....and the massage chair!!!! dryness is no more or no less. being tired has sucked and i have taken a couple of my mother's green tea extract pills on 2 occasions and they seem to give me the boost i need but i don't like the idea of taking too many pills. i am also taking my allergy pill once a day.

does anyone know if it is ok to take whatever pills you want while on accutane(not vitamin a of course) or if it is too hard on the liver?

i have also uploaded a pic of my complete accutane kit that i am using currently....

It depends on the med you take... I definitely prefer not to take anything else if possible (except birth control) so my liver will not be overloaded. You can find the list of meds that can interact in the user booklet or on Internet.

It comes with the pills but maybe there isn't one with Absorica...
