I'm currently on my 3rd month of accutane and it is totally worth it. I would say I'm about 90 percent clear but I did have a pretty bad initial breakout other than that you should expect some dryness of the skin and chapped lips. Some people complain about joint pain which you might want to watch out for since your active in sports but I've been lifting weights since I started accutane and I have no jointpain at all, it's just depends on the person. I don't think the chances are very high for long term side effects I wouldn't worry about it.
