Haven't Done The Regimen Is A While? Acne Came Back. Advice?

Recommended Posts

Hi so earlier this year I started the regimen and followed it very closely, cleansing, applying bp, and moisturizer two times daily. I started with mild-average acne and within 2 months I had completely clear skin.

Once I had clear skin, I found a happy medium in which I only applied bp once a day and still maintained clear skin. However, for an entire 5-6 weeks I got incredibly lazy and only applied bp about once a week, but surprisingly, my skin still stayed clear with the exception of a pimple here and there. Long story short, not appling bp daily caught up with me and a few days ago I woke up acne along my jawline and cheeks.

For the past couple of days I have been cleansing, applying bp and moisturizer 1-2 times a day, which has been drying. My question is how long do you think it will take to get clear again? Because Iv'e already achieved clear skin through the regimen will my face clear up pretty quickly? Or will it take another 2 full months? Im actually pretty mad at myself because Ive generally had clear skin for months and now I have acne all over my jawline and cheeks. Let me know, any info/advice would be very much appreciated.

I wouldn't beat yourself up...breakouts happen to everyone and yes, it is disappointing after working hard to get clear. I'd ease your way back into daily BP usage...starting at the twice daily max dosage may aggravate things and cause additional breakouts which will increase your healing time. Maybe try one pump once per day for first 4-5 days, then one pump twice daily for 4-5 days until you're at the full 2 pumps twice daily. Chances are that it won't take as long the second time round to clear up. Once you are clear, you can experiment again with decreasing BP application until you find your perfect dosage to stay clear. You may need to apply BP every 2-3 days instead of once a week to stay clear. Hope this helps!

Well, I don't mean to be harsh but you shouldn't have been lazy. Trust me, this has happened to me before and let me tell you I learned this the hard hard freaking way. I had a clear skin for a whole year and I no longer took care of my skin and guess what? One day it came back to haunt me, even worse actually. I hated my acne but I realized that my acne was not to blame, it was myself for not taking care of my skin when it was clear.

Just keep doing the regimen, even when you have clear skin. Never ever stop taking care of your skin.
